stuff similar to l.s.g. - rendezvous in outer space

i absolutely love this album. it's just brilliant. i'd like to get more stuff like it, but haven't really found any. i've checked the other l.s.g. albums, but they're not really like rendezvous in outer space.
so please recommend me some stuff that's similar to this album. and please only stuff that's released on cd on paid download (beatport etc.) as i don't have TTs and won't be getting any.

It's coming in the post to me, so I hope it's as good as you say.

i just recently ordered it too, after *ahem* "previewing" it properly. and i have to say that it's probably the best trance album i've ever heard (haven't heard many good ones though tbh).

try to get this album: http://www.discogs.com/release/154784
it's hard to find though but well worth it :/
haven't checked if it's available anywhere. but Platipus stuff should be available from the major download sites.

thanks! i'll check it out. haven't heard much from quietman. i can only remember one tune of his and that summit temple, which is fucking brilliant at least.

Posted by skip on Feb-12-2007 18:54:

well i got the quietman album and a few singles too. mostly good stuff, but i wouldn't really call it so similar to this album.
i'm still looking for stuff that sounds as good as this does. it still baffles me how fucking brilliant this album really is!

Y'know, I really can't think of many albums like it. Oodles of old trance compilations though.

Posted by sljiva on Feb-12-2007 20:19:

Try Volume 2, another fine Oliver's work. It's the closest thing to RIOS that I've heard.
Or maybe Resistance D's Ztringz Of Life or some other Harthouse release

doesn't have to be albums. separate tracks are just fine or compilations (preferably unmixed though). i just need more tracks like this and i want to find them somewhere on cd or paid download.

i didn't really like volume 2, it's not nearly as trancy as rendezvous in outer space. but i'll check out that resistance d album if i can find it somewhere to preview. thanks

Check this out, one of the best trance albums ever released IMO.

Posted by RebeL9 on Feb-12-2007 23:28:

also try this one: http://www.discogs.com/release/342110

Here's a good comp then:

Rising High Trance Injection

Lots of material from Pete Namlook under trance aliases here.

Posted by skip on Feb-13-2007 17:20:

thanks guys for the recommendations, i'll try to check them all out and report back how i liked them.

Posted by skip on Feb-16-2007 12:43:

haven't had time to check the recommendations out yet, but here's a few more tunes similar to the style i'm looking for:

l.s.g. - risin'
l.s.g. - hearts
l.s.g. - lectrolyte

bought these three from beatport yesterday. i guess i won't find stuff like this anywhere as it seems that only oliver lieb has done it as l.s.g.
too bad, because this is the kind of trance i'd really like to hear more. anyway i hope the recommendations are similar.

Posted by RebeL9 on Feb-16-2007 15:50:

also from Oliver Lieb

get Ivan - Red Star
sample

and Spicelab - Two

Lectrolyte is from Volume II I thought? Did you give it a good listen as it doesn't really stray from the same style I don't think?

Yep, they're both vinyl only tracks. Lieb's discography is so massive, i doubt all of his works will never end up to digital downloads either.

yeah that's too bad.

One of the individual Lieb related musthaves any fan of him should have, is Illuminatus - Hope (Oliver Lieb Remix). It has that same vibe than the L.S.G. tracks from the early-mid 90s.

Also the Classics of Superstition compilations (years 1-3) might be a good idea if you don't have them by now. They have lots of unmixed classic tracks from 93-95, including productions by Lieb, Mijk van Dijk, Humate,.. under several guises.

sounds good! i think i'm just gonna go and order the vol.2 (years 2-3). it's not even that expensive.
ordered it already. pretty much most tunes i've heard from humate, lieb and mijk van dijk are good, so it can't be that bad.
i still need to find time to check out those other recommendations with good time.

Posted by RebeL9 on Feb-17-2007 00:27:

since Hope (Oliver Lieb remix) is mentioned which is one of my all time favourites I feel obliged to mention Mory Kante - Mogo Djolo (The Ambush remix). Another Lieb remix from the same year (1994) and also one of my all time favourites.
This tune is so good i don't have any words for it.

thanks, i'll check that out too, altho i don't really care for his remix of illuminatus - hope.
