Poker
i came second in a poker tournament last night
never played in one before and had to deal with abuse for most of the night about some of my playing techniques and getting yelled at for not knowing chip values for most of the tournament but it was awesome fun.
hehe, cool! so did you win lots of cash? what were you playing? texas holdem?
man im addicted to poker atm. i play in a weekly tournament, play online, play with mates every week or 2, download and watch all the shows. cant get enough of it! its great
this is the league i play in, national poker league. possibly the same league u played in last night teflon.
its illegal in victoria to play poker for money outside the casino so theres no cash prizes (unlike NSW) but you do accrue points each week. At the end of the season if you have got enough points u can play in the state final for which 1st place is $15k.
yeah i played in the australian poker league, i need to play in another tournament to actually get a ranking. some of my mates play every week, i reckon i might start doing it regularly it heaps of fun.
ah yeah australian poker league is the other league. i havnt played in one of their tourneys yet, been meaning to try it out for a while so i can compare the 2 leagues. From what ive heard apl has better prizes and npl is more focused on achieving a friendly and fun environment.

Yeah i think I have become addicted to Poker as well. My friends and I even email each other poker videos from YouTube.
Check out these crazy videos from WPT events:

Gotta love Tony G, the aussie!
I have played online for about six months. I was only making $10 deposits every week or two but i ended up being WAY down. I was down about US$200 at one stage.
Then, i bought a book about internet poker, started playing seriously and turned it all around. Went from -$200 to about +$150 in a month, and that's US dollars.
If you are thinking about playing online for money, i suggest you wait until you are a decent player and have developed a solid game, otherwise you will get burned very quickly.
One of my mates wins quite often when we play home games or we play at my local pub, but he has lost big time online. He is really good at bluffing and plays a super-aggressive style, but I guess he doesn't have the patience to succeed at online poker yet. He is probably down about US$600 already, and he has payed for that off his new credit card, the silly boy.

i love playing poker.
i just know as soon as i get playing online, i'd be addicted, and have to start eating catfood.
lol Tony G is a fuckwit, im surprised no1 has belted him yet.
yeah i played for a couple of months with real money came out a bit ahead. i dont find it hard to win online and i was only playing for fun. If someone puts 100% into it with their sole focus to win money u can clean up on there IMO, provided your a decent player. I cashed out all my money tho, i didnt find online nearly as much fun as live games.
one of my mates was telling me about how one night he got really drunk and whilst playing internet poker and all he remembers is that he was up $150US, then the next day found out he was down $600US
game of kings!
or dogs...

boys lets organise a tournament
best thing to do is rather than trash someones house, get an apartment somewhere in the city for a night, about $150 should do it
between 8 people, thats peanuts
then have a $75 buy in
8 people
winner takes all
who is keen???
I am
and ill organise it if there is genuine interest.
I have proper chips, automatic shufflers
and the table

Guys,
I'm going to my for Australian Poker League tournament on Thursday night, anything I need to do beforehand?
Also, my friend said they're all hacks that play there, that it's much more different at Crown etc... I mean my mate might just use that as an excuse if he goes out early, and nevertheless it sounds like a fun night out, but any input on this?
People play like retards at APL because its only "play money" and they aren't really risking anything when they make crazy calls and all-ins.
I don't mind it for a bit of fun, but it's not the best place to learn to become a good player if you are just starting out.
I figure if you want to play poker, play the game the way its meant to be played with real $$$
Real-money games FTW.
