-- My Job is an oxymoron

My Job is an oxymoron

job pretty much means you get paid to do something... I don't. I get paid pretty much to do nothing or whatever i want to do. Some people may think its the greatest job in the world, but it's really not. 2 2/2 weeks so far of doing NOTHING! Most of my other co-workers have things to do so i'm always the only person left in the office...looking at random articles on wikipeida (today's topic was the Heaven Gate Cult) not only do i not do nothing, we just got advised offically today that they are giving us friday and monday off paid! That part is cool. For the most part doing nothing at work for weeks blows chunks.

Wow. I feel really bad for you.

I don't think you understand the BOREDOM that goes along with doing nothing. There is only soooo much internet you can look at. I don't go to forums at work, i pretty much just stay on "safe" sites. I would 1000% be doing something then nothing, even at home.

I do. I use to work 40 hours a week as a lifeguard. Omfg.

I understand what you mean.

Sure it sounds glamorous and fun but really it sucks!

What's the official job description btw? lol

I'm in the same boat as you. If I don't have an assignment, I'm just sitting around my house. I can only go to the gym so many times during the day and I can only post-whore on TA so much; it gets difficult trying to find crap to keep myself busy. My wife thinks it's a joke and doesn't understand why I get frustrated with it. I'm going to shoot her with a BB gun.

I'd love to have a do-nothing job.

Yes, its great. On thursday when there is nothing to do, no one to talk to, you ears hurt since the past 7 hours the ear plugs were on all day, and the the websites that you watch haven't changed in the past 3 hours. Its fun.

Don't you have any hobbies? Side-interests?

i'd rahter fuck around on tranceaddict and msn rather than opening boxes, counting books, and typing in how many books i have. calling stupid customers who think they sent me more than they did..and having to put up with my stupid boss who comes to my desk everytime i didn't circle the date or some gay shit like that. be thankful.

that's the thing. I hate reading, but not because i hate to read a book. Its just after soooo many papers i have to grade, when i do have something to do, the last thing i want is to read anything. I had to get glasses because of this job. It was funny, after yesterday i had 7 coke cans on top of my desk...i needed the caffine.

No i have to admit my job is cool for things like that. Actually in April i told them i wanted to take a monday as a vacation day so i could go to the Coachella Music Festival. They said don't worry about, just claim it as you worked it. I get back on tuesday when the first thing off the bat, "You need to see the manager" I'm thinking "CRAP THEY TOLD ME I COULD TAKE IT WITHOUT USING VACTATION!"

I go see the manager, "Oh there you are, here." handing me a without notice bonus check for $870 after tax

Aslo we get SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO many days off paid. It is cool like that i do admit.

With your history of lack of self-worth it does not amaze me that you would find being useless to be more fulfilling than it you were to actually do something productive.

people who manage to get bored regardless of the circumstances are mental weaklings.

So did I. Except this pool was so small that often during the day there'd be no one there. So I just had my boombox blasting out James Zabiela. A lot of kids asked me "WTF are you listening to?" And I just laughed.

try being a greasemonkey extraordinaire at your dad's autoshop, where you work for 10 hours in blistering heat (i did actually get blisters on my leg last summer from the heat), get cut, scraped, oil and gasoline and grease all over you, tired as fuck, to get paid minimum wage.

oh. yeah. doing nothing is such hell.

dude, get some books. get some production software. you have a PC at this place, so short of watching TV or being in your underwear scratching your balls, your job is like being at home. do something productive with it, AND get paid.
