More Phases Of A Dub Experience

So, i finally got of my ass and did it, the part two of this mix that i have been talking about doing for such a long time. More or less, from the week after i finished the first one. Here i am a year after, and it's done. The general idea was to not do a new mix, but more to continue where the last one left off, which is the Miles Davis track, but after several attempts done like during the fall. I finally managed to get it together, and here it is. The easiest (and also the corniest) way to descibe this one is that it's the yang to the yin. But really, it's the same concept, only in reverse, we start off moody & darkish and then go light, then bringing in some minor darker sides to form a more bittersweet ending.

I want to thank some people, Jan & Greg for their support and help. Clovis, and a bunch of others that asked for a new mix. I want to thank everyone who took their time download the last mix and also shoutouts to Rob, Chrissi, N0bben, Bas, Grimreaper, Haak, and the Swedish TA's.

Fan-fecking-tastic mix here, Tony.

Claude Debussy - Clair de Lune (performed by Garrick Ohlsson)
* excerpt from "match point"
Emiliana Torrini - At Least It Was

* excerpt from "oceans eleven"
Ennio Morricone - Deborah's Theme (from Once Upon A Time In America)

... are my favorite pieces of the mix. The samples fit perfectly with each of those fantastic tunes. The only thing I'm disappointed about is Clair de Lune being cut off early, but that's about it.

11/10

I must have been lucky then, cause I saw someone mention it in the thread about 'what are your favourite TAs dj mixes'-something, and I managed to download your mix, nearly a week ago I think. Just in time I guess

Posted by Nrg2Nfinit on Nov-11-2006 22:21:

excellent mix.. really enjoyed it.. smoked shisha and listened to the whole thing. intresting quotes in the mix and loved the piano tracks

Posted by Sand Leaper on Nov-12-2006 05:26:

Can't complain about the soothing lounge effect of this mix, it is off the scale. Some wonderful tunes, and the samples slide neatly into the blend to create an even more cinematic feel. Nicely done uncle dub.

On the downside, I sorely miss a bit of bite and edge. The way it is right now it all sounds really smooth and soothing, but I'd like some parts where things go a bit more abrasive/weird/abstract as well to provide some contrast and to veer away a bit from the coffee table-factor.

Nevertheless, keep up the good work.

Montana, just wow...

I let this whirl just before I was going to sleep. I felt so blessed to be alive, merely for warm blankets, my pup at my side and the progressions from Ennio onwards. I don't know which was greater, bearing witness to Sigur Ros live or the transition into Mogwai in the comfort of my own bed. You sir, have *consummate* taste.

oops/ forgot to state that I topped off your mix with Otis Redding's 'Sittin' on the Dock of the Bay'
