Ok I’d like you to spend 2 minutes of your time, visit Laurents Myspace page and listen to a sample of this track. (Listen to the whole thing, too, not just the start). It should play automatically.

Having listened to this track, great as it is with excellent, original vocals and and incredible melody, how would you feel if it was never released and was forever confined to Laurents hard disk?

That’s what this thread is here to stop. Originally played once on Jon O Birs radio show back in 2002/3, this track quickly achieved legendary status. Raved about only as “Unknown – Unknown” for a time, Jon wasn’t supposed to play it, but the fans went nuts the minute they heard it. The original set is very rare – I personally lost it in a HDD crash a few years ago, so all I (and most people) have is a dodgy setrip with effects scattered throughout.

Since then, there has been a constant and steady push to get it released, with a few die-hard fans of the track keeping the release-dream alive. That saga has had its ups and downs, but finally there’s some light at the end of the tunnel.

This was posted on Laurents myspace a few days ago. Sums things up well without me going into detail.

Hey guys,

Yep, it's about time to talk about this.

The other day, I was browsing files on my backup drives and found the master of "Océan d'étoiles", you know, that track that my friend Jon kinda leaked when playing on the radio and that EVERYONE has kept requesting??

This track is 4 years old and still sounds like it was made yesterday. I'm sure that many of you will be happy to see it released online.

Well, I'm reconsidering it, this time seriously, but no vinyl, and only as a side track of a new single.

You're the ones to decide about this anyway. That is why I need your advice and your shout. Next week I'll post a short snippet on my site and on myspace for 14 days, just for those who don't know the track, if I judge the number of plays/ positive comments on myspace sufficient, or better, if you come with an online petition signed by dozens of people, then I'll seriously release it.

Lesson Two of that "DO NOT TRASH FINISHED WORK EITHER, IDIOT" book... ROFL

So this is our chance. I have posted this on a few forums, and in each post I am including a link to a petition to have the track released. It takes 2 minutes, just click on the link below and sign the petition. Enough signatures, the track gets released. Simple as that. There’s an option on the site to keep your email address private, so you don’t have to worry about spam.

To summarize - anyone who calls themselves a trance/prog/EDM/etc fan will know the name Laurent Véronnez. Be it under Lolo/Airwave/V-One/ Blue Velvet/ Cloud 69 or any of his other aliases. An absolute legend in the scene, he has had numerous releases on Bonzai and other labels. Even if you’re not a huge fan of his works, you CANNOT say that he isn’t one of the top players in progressive trance/etc.

Give something back to the EDM community, give Laurent the respect and support he deserves for making such a masterpiece, and sign this petition to get what myself and others think is one of the greatest tracks ever made.

I've never understood what's so special about this track. It sounds more like a remix of a french pop song. Yeah it's decent but legendary?

i'm not signing the petition, laurent should be releasing it anyways. the people asked for it's release like two years ago or whatever when the first poll was on the bonzai forum, and then the result was that people wanted it. laurent didn't release it anyways. it's bs to have another petition/poll/whatever for the track.

People tend to do that when it comes to unreleased stuff. Some die-hard Boards of Canada fans are talking about those old tapes no one heard like they were sacred. Silly people.

Not signing, got bored of this track quite some time ago. I dont care much for its release.

Signed. Didnt really like it at first, like Rebel9 said, its sounds more like a remix of a French pop song.. I think I'd prefer a dub But breakdown is nice and it there is something euphoric about this track..

Hi Guys.
I remember signing for this track to be released on the bonzai forums. This track was dedicated to someone very close to Laurent. If i remeber correctly there were over 100 votes from users online who wanted this released and still it did not get released. And now finally when i'm not as addicted to trance as how i was years ago Mr. LOLO decides to release the track. I would have appriciated this track much more a few years ago. Anyways still looking forward to this track.

It's a nice track, but I'm surprised it's getting so many positive reviews here as I feel like they're been quite a few tracks with this sound released over the last few years that would otherwise be considered "cheesy", "pop", "dj sammy-ish" had it been released by Armin , for example.
