so how come all the good shows come when i'm out of town?

Posted by Aquadyne on Nov-13-2006 20:39:

Just out of curiosity, and I don't mean to be a snide dick:

Does anyone here still actually listens to Lawrence? Last set of his I heard was about a year ago from early 2005. Is anyone into his sound anymore?

As for J00F, is it just me or does it feel like he is starting to reach Bono proportions where it seems that his announcements and statements are actually getting him noticed more than his music is. I'd come and see him lecture on the state of EDM ;D

I dunno for some reason Christopher Lawrence looks like he's from Star Trek in that picture. Neat flyer though. I don't get the comment about J00F, maybe I'm behind on something?

I guess you didnt attend Love Fest in S.F. on Sept 23, 2006.

Nice Combo.

Ummm, the state of EDM is umm.. bad I guess. Vinyl is on its way out and both labels and magazines are flopping like fresh fish.

this is evolutionary of the digital age...

digital mags now and we all know most of us have purchased our new music via a 'beatport' style site.

it's crazy that other magazines haven't flopped (not referring to EDM mags) ... I get like 4 a month and can't even find the time to read them... crazy

Oh, enlighten me. Your cryptic and mysterious answers are tearing away at the very fabric of my curiousity.

Vinyl is the medium of the universe and I will never ever let it die.

Posted by RJT on Nov-16-2006 19:10:

Why all the hate for Lawrence and J00F?

I'm not a huge fan of either, but I guess I'd always considered them both to be consistently solid trance jocks...

i know it's been a few years since i've seen either one, but i've always been a fan of J00F and CL.

if you weren't playing @ Housexy tomorrow i'd be at this show.

now now blake, I'm very much into sexy deep tribal house, but who are we to judge other styles? Christopher Lawrence just jumped to #4 on the DJ Mag Top 100 Poll 2006, which means he has a following and he definetly has a tremendous resume to back it up.

Subpar? The only subpar trance are your tracks!

I think your music sux! Especially that ghey chasing cars track it sounds just like the original...in fact all of your remixes sound like the originals... you won't ever compare to JOOF or CL

Ugggghhh... is this really what this is going to deteriorate into?

Blake said he doesn't care for Lawrence or J00F - It's his opinion on the matter. Deal with it. No one's forcing you to agree with him.

He could of kept the dissin' to himself. If he wants to be the big shot producer he thinks he is that comment wasn't very professional!

But the "big shot producer" label is one you place on him. In reality, he's no different than any other member of this forum, with his own opinions and ideals, and in general I think you're simply misinterpretting his opinion as arrogance.

No one thinks twice when TA's who aren't "big name producers" speak their mind, so why should it be any different for producers?

Blakes still just a person like you or I.

Posted by haider on Nov-17-2006 15:39:

come on guys, let it go, we're all here because we love music. if you like trance, come to sound-bar, if you like techno, go to spy bar. Chicago is a great city in that we feature very diverse talent and its a sad time when you'll have a great DJ playing and some girl asks if he can play "gasolina." No Joke. I had a girl ask me that when Damian Lazarus was playing. Support the EDM music scene before it surrenders to mainstream and hip-hop.
