AKG k240s headphones are SWEET!!

Just got these badboys after hearing about everyone talking about them here and I must say these things are the shiznit! I can hear problems I cant even hear on anything else

AKG k240 ftw!

oh fuck ... bye bye bad frequencies hahaha.. ownage.

I'm wearing mine as I'm typing this. Sometimes I even forget I have them on, they're that comfortable.
I think they're great, very detailed sound. Unfortunately, as with all headphones sub-bass is tough to make out.

nice im thinking about picking up a pair of theses or maybe some mdr7506 or maybe even sum beyerdynamics?

i cant decide!

If you cant make out a sub bass, then just pull your earphones a tad away from your ears and you should hear if its in the right key etc.

I produce with shitty Sennheiser HD 202s, and they've done me so much justice :P They are the best value for money imo.

i would go the AKG, but i wouldnt buy anything without trying them first. buying headphones/monitors because someone on the internet told you to is like getting your mum to buy you pants to wear on a really hot date with a 10/10 blonde with massive boobies.

true but having no where that lets you try headphones is kind of a biggie and reviews are better than nothin and better than be just going and buying anything without doing any resarch.

i have hd-25 for djing and they rock but are a bit bass heavy for production. so was looking for sumthin purely for production when it gets late. people seem to be raving about the akg so i am very interest any better models than the k240s?

I have Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO/80 - I love them, I haven't really tried anything else but these are great. So comfortable I could wear them forever.

Posted by wrzonance on Nov-15-2006 20:47:

They are hot. I love mine.

Trust me , I have learned lots from this forum and Im thinking of something I can do to give back however I dont think i really have anything special to write about. What I can do is tell people who are serious about music producing/engineering who want the best sound out of their tracks to get these akgs. I have 3 headphones, Beyerdynamics 990 dt, ultrasone 750 proline , and AKG 240 s. The AKG 240s outshines all, AND even outshines my studio moniters (the new JBLs.

These akg headphones are godly. You will hear shit you cant hear on anything else and that allows you to get rid of bad frequencies and wierd noises to make a nice clean mix!

get these bad boys.

and no i dont work for akg

A'ight, I know that was a joke but you've really gotta work on your analogies bud.

On topic, the 240S is the low-impedance version of the 240DF, which are the cans I use and which I've recommended before. So, as the line in politics goes, "I heartily endorse this product, place, and/or event."

I'm in the market for new headphones soon actually.. i currently use my old dj headphones but they colour the bass something chronic, so im generally after a pair of cans that are awesome for monitoring that don't pump the bass either.

So far it's either the mdr7506's, or the akg 240s.. you guys rate the 240s' higher?

Posted by nutsan on Nov-16-2006 00:34:

i think im sold on the akgs. which is the better option then the k240s or k240df?

is there a better modelthat akg do? or is the k240 series good
enough?

i wish there was a place near me i culd test themout

They're the same, the only difference is the impedance. You should always listen for yourself though, if you're at all concerned.

like i said that aint an option for me unfortunately

wot does the higher impedence do exactly?

more impedence + more power to drive them = greater resolution

Posted by nutsan on Nov-16-2006 14:56:

cool thanx for that the df model is discontinued now anyway

how do the k240s compare to the mdr7506? anyone done a comparison?

sorry for all the questions

Sony is a consumer electronic manufacturer, while AKG makes microphones and headphones almost exclusively.
The AKG k240 phones are made in Austria while Sony phones are made in Japan(?).
I've had some bad experiences with Sony products in the past. I don't really trust them.
I'm pretty confident that the AKG phones are a better buy in the durability/quality point of view. This is just my opinion, you REALLY should listen to them yourself before you buy.

like ive said theres no possibility of trying them otherwise i wuld and wuld trust my ears. so my only option is asking peoples opinions that mite of tried both models.

Yeah that's more or less it... for a high-impedance model you'll need an amp of some sort, but you'll end up with much less noise because the impedance ratio between the 'phones themselves and the line/amp output is much higher.

In practice, you probably won't be able to hear the noise anyway, so if you don't have an amp or receiver, you'll want the low-impedance model.

K240DF is discontinued but still widely available.

We were having a discussionhere about the best headphones and the AKG K240S Studio Headphones were which I'm thinking of getting and digi nut said pretty much the same about the impedance level's and owns a pair of them (DigiNut knows everything I swear :P).
