-- Morning psy?

Morning psy?

Right, I'm trying to find more psy on the uplifting side, something that seems to be referred to as 'morning psy'?

I've been listening to samples and I'm starting to see what I like and what I don't like.

Darker, very synth driven stuff, like GMS, doesnt really do much for me, but I'm loving stuff by Yahel, Overlap, Protoculture, etc.

Must be my uplifting trance upbringing

I also like fairly prominent bass from time to time, like in Eskimo tracks.

Cheers

check out stuff by Electric Universe such as Morning Star.
Also try Astrix first album Eye to Eye.
And alot of Human Blue's stuff have a nice morning feel to it (Rollercoaster, Disco Code, Zero Tonic Passion for instance).

Check out

F.F.T. - Future Frequency Technology, uplifting album with lots of energy.

Astrix is awesome if you like the full on psy sound with uplifting elements. A perfect example of a uplifting/psy hybrid would be '1200 Micrograms - Ecstacy'.

Morning style is my favorite. I use morning style tracks almost exclusively in all of my Psyforce mixes which you can download here: www.blackvortex.com No bullshit, just music.

Right on! Electro Sun is one of my favorite producers right behind Protoculture and Delirious. Check out Electro Sun - Faded Memories, my favorite track by him.

if you know Protoculture i hope you have checked out Figa Fee.
the ultimate "morning track" imo.

In My Dreams!

Love that one. I mean, just the sheer audacity in using wailing divas in a psy trance tune.

are you talking about fluff, or stuff to spin at the end of the evening to make people's come-downs nice and smooth?

I don't know what exactly is morning trance, but you say you like Protoculture. They have a new track out called Circadians:

Morning psytrance is the music listened to after 6/7 AM when the sun begins to rise.

Thanks AN. I thought there was more to it than that like the term techno. It's such a broad genre, yet so complicated to pigeonhole into one ultimate definition.

Yeah no doubt I've always learned about psy and how to describe it using times of day. It was a common approach in India...

Dark (night), Morning, Twilight, etc.

This way of defining the genre is very relevant when you are currently frequenting outdoor affairs.

I think it's a fucking great way to describe the variations in style

It's easy to understand that pounding, dark, metal guitar ridden psy wouldn't really get played on a beach when the sun is busy rising

Probably the only major characteristic that defines morning psy is its more light-hearted take on the genre, which seems to work nicely when the sun be rising.

Exactly, more likely to be somewhat uplifting, and use softer or more melodic sounds and effects.
