Danny D Vs Chris Sheppard !

Who's you fav ??

Vs.

Pirate Radio Sessions will win handsdown. CS was a very cutting edge DJ in the early 90's then he jumped on the commercial dance bandwagon joined Love Inc. and became a vagino.

Posted by CAKE on Nov-15-2006 19:18:

but doesn't Danny D do the "street mix" cuz he's gangsta like that?

I've seen Chris Sheppard a few times. He's a decent DJ and knows how to work the crowd. My favorite memory of him is when he played RJ's Boom Boom Saloon (a club in Ottawa. Doesn't exist anymore.)

I used to listen eagerly on my radio whenever Pirate Radio sessions was on. There was nothing like it on the radio at the time. Only thing that came close was Electric Circus on Much Music with host Monica Diol.

Danny D is meh but his mixing is pretty good sometimes.

"Party people in the city of love, GO CRAZY!"

Shep wins!

Posted by MarkT on Nov-15-2006 20:07:

Shep, hands down! Pioneer in the Canadian dance music scene.

Posted by Pett on Nov-15-2006 20:13:

sheppard still has a radio show its pretty good, almost alternative electronic. Its on 105.1 late night.

danny d is the better dj thou

Posted by Jayx1 on Nov-15-2006 20:33:

Chris Sheppard for sure. Danny D plays what everyone else is already playing. Shep used to introduce new stuff. He was one of the guys who brought UK breakbeat to Canada back in the early 90s.

I might be a bit biased these days though since the producer of pirate radio sessions (DJ Swet) is one of the hosts of Tekfonik Radio

Chris Sheppard.

Does he still try to spin 'commercial' dance?

Posted by Takayuki on Nov-15-2006 21:03:

Neither

you and me both... although 108 was in serious decline before that. When they tried to compete with Kiss 92 they went to shit. I stopped listening altogether after they stopped doing live to airs and shortly after that they were a rock station.

How could you even compare. Say what you want but CS helped build the scene in the early days. Take him Dr Trance and a handful of others... without them it wouldn't ahve been anywhere what it was.

Danny D is an absolute joke. he was spitting about how he discovered some track "put your hands up for detroit" a little while ago. Last time I checked I ahd been listening to his so called finds for months at the Zone before he stumbled accross anything.

Plus he drops trainwreck after trainwreck. I am guilty though... I tune in regularly to se ehow bad it will be.

imo

wasn't "wheeeeeeeels!" from one of his shows too (in between mixes)?

lol

Posted by Endlesswave on Nov-16-2006 02:20:

Shep by far, even from what little I remember hearing of him. Mostly it was jsut 89.5 after that, and 1groove, 100.7fm, (still is).

Posted by mickmack on Nov-16-2006 03:44:

i went to fever once in hamilton about 2 years ago. "deep dish - flashdance" came on, and halfway through the song, the entire room started singing "hammer, danny d... splash on a friday night!" over and over.

that commercial officially destroyed that song for me, and i haven't returned to fever since that night.

chris sheppard FTW! i still have the destination dancefloor collection too.
