EMSAY: Electronic Music Society @ York Thread

Alright, since the Roll Call, which became the Review thread was closed, we need to open up another thread.

Does anyone have a list of the DJs that played that night?

I can't quite remember who played when and stuff. But yeah, my only complaint was that some of the stuff I remember didn't sound to Electronic..it sounded almost like hip-hop music which had a fast beat or something like that...

Not quite sure what it was..but I would've loved to hear some of the D&B as i'm hearing some decent reviews about it.

You its possible that a local DJ would come preform or something?

yeah, oh and I think they should allow non-York Dj's to come in and Dj too

I'm not saying any of the DJs were bad or anything, but if we could get a great non-York DJ to come spin, I think that would draw some more people maybe..to get the club more recognized or something like that. I would be willing to pay like $5 to come see someone spin.

Dj Robben isn't from York btw so I don't understand why when I offered the president of EMSAY another guy, he said they must be York student only

and hey, I expect all their events to be free i did pay my $5 membership fee hehe kidding! i guess that was enough for 1 event only, cos they splashed like mad on posters and banner and flyers

uhhh didn't swamper JUST close the other thread because it was refering to how future event events should be organised? This is is suppose to be a review thread. Doesn't emsay have their own forum? maybe post all your suggestions there?

The last thing we want is any mention of emsay to be banned off this forum.

Well actually the MCs make it sound like rap or reggae or whatever..pure drumnbass is electronic music, and pure drumnbass is damn good...ofcourse its influenced by trance

Here's my review.

Entered with Jeff, Geli and Negar. It's an ok venue, with wicked lasers, the projec The drinks at the bar were cheap! Majority of the time sound sucked. Technically and musically. I'll admit I still love hearing ORIGINAL NUTTAH and someone played some DAFT PUNK FROM THE HOMEWORK ALBUM! Of course, I had to go WOOO and then some punks on the dancefloor started going OOAH OOAH! OOAH! OOAH!

Jeff was awesome and bought glowsticks to support Emsay [so he claims. hehe jk]

I got to say hi to Transiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiid and RobbbbbbbbbbbbIn.

this night has a lot of potiential to be absolutely wicked. There were TONs of people who were having a good time.

Our own mini guv at Yorku

the end.

lol is this like a 3rd time you are saying it? it's her opinion, and the event started at 9.30 or 9... so if the sound was bad in her opinion till 11.30, that's unfair?
that's a bizarre of a statement

Let's just say it didn't sound anything like D&B...

But yeah, I bought the glowsticks to SUPPORT Emsay...not that I don't like staring in things that glow...which makes me woohoo!

I keep saying this because being one of the DJs after 11:30, I find it offensive to be pooled in with the clowns that were on before me.

I don't find it that hard to understand.

I agree with you matt, and Id want that statement qualified as well

Hey Kristina,

I didnt say they must be York Students ONLY I said Preference goes to York Students first.

Two of the DJs at the night were non-York.

And I coudlnt put your bf into the list for the night, because the slots were filled up already.

People have their own reviews and opinions of the event. It doesnt necessarily detail to you specifically, but over all.

Yes ofcourse, you wouldnt want to be pooled in with the rest of the clowns.

I didnt appreciate the above statement. We;re all EMSAY here, I didnt have past experience, neither did the rest of the executives when we were organizing this event. If you were to call somebody a clown, CALL ME THE CLOWN, not the others.

Thanks

Your right Jeff, some parts of the DnB didnt sound TOO Electronic. Nonetheless, it was Electronic. It wasnt hip-hop though. It was MCiing in a rap mode with the DnB music in the back.

EDM will always have elements from other genres. I'm not an expert or anything on this. But EDM is expanding all around the world, people that love and appreciate EDM are inputting their local genres into DnB , Trance and way more.

And we defintely have no right to say what's EDM or not. I've had such arguements many times with people saying that Trance is just messed up, and that House music is the real EDM. I just dont bother arguing, because to me, it's all EDM. I'm a big fan of trance. I listen to it more than house or DnB.

But I show appreciation to all the types of music in this world, because I want them to have appreciation for my favorite genre aka EDM.

btw Nice Signature
