Rogers Wireless

I'm planning on switching from Fido to Rogers, so just curious if anyone is with them? How's the customer service? Do they overcharge a lot?

I thought they were the same company now... Nice phone.

Well they are, but their plans/phones/etc are diffrent.

I don't mind staying with Fido, but their phones suck and I'm tired of my RAZR.

Buy the phone, it's GSM, unlock it and use it with Fido

All you have to do is swap the smartcard from old phone to the new unlocked one.

Rogers charges by the minute, while Fido still does it by the second.

I'm saying still because Rogers is slowly but surely fucking up Fido and i believe its a matter of time before it becomes a "by the minute" thing.

By the minute is so retarded, every company can offer by the second, but they refuse to in order to rake in the extra cash.

I think Rogers dreads when I call. When I had my blackberry (just got a RAZR 2 weeks ago now), but they were overcharging me 10$ a month for something that was suppose to be for a Trio since 2004. They rebated back the full 280$ due to it being their error. Also I bitched enough about a few other things that they would reverse other charges for me as well like when I was in EU and had about 100$ in charges I shouldn't have had.

So as far as customer services goes, they are pretty good imo. I always get what I want when I call them or get what I need fixed taken care of. Their reps have gotten my ext. at work and have called me back if it was going to take them longer than 10 min to find out my answer.

But on the other side, all phone companies are pricks and rape you so it is your choice in the end.


edit: I've been with Rogers for 7 yrs now too though. That could make a difference with the customer service I get from them.

Rogers and Fido are the same, except that if you call rogers and bitch, you will for sure get more stuff out of them. Plus rogers phones are always gonna be better than Fido's. thats the way rogers wants it. plans are similar, and will become more and more similar as time goes by.

the K790 is a sick phone, you should get it, it comes with a 1gb memory card until dec 31st.

how much do you guys pay for your plans? I pay $35 but bills are above and beyond $100. Whats a better plan, any ideas? Id rather hear it here rather than over the phone with a sales rep.

my bill comes up to about 55$ with fido.

100 min by sec
5pm to 7pm unlimited option
unlimited incoming calls
7pm weeknights and unlimited weekends
caller id
voice mail
some other options

i pay roughly 60-70 dollars

full unlimited, i still have that fidocity plan before they cancelled it

cool so i guess i need to bump my plan up to about 60-80, thankx guys

dont switch to rogers, you can keep resigning your contract on that city fido plan and you'll keep it as long as you want. Only thing is, they wont give you upgrades. Get an unlocked phone, you can get unlocked k790's easily. If they are locked, they cannot be unlocked, but if you it's factory branded be Sony Ericsson, your fine.

but i DO want to change plans
most of my calls are incoming, and 'free incoming calls' is standard now anyway (with other plans), so im paying an extra 40$ for nothing

aaaaand since i want to switch the phone itself, i though rogers was a good deal (250$ for k790 with 3 year contract)

i can always change to some 40ish fido plan, but then i would need to pay the full price for the k790 (ebay or something)

Rogers does have is Rogers 2 Rogers free calling. I know that I got that in my plan for free.

and 20$ a month got me:

2500 txt msgs
Voicemail
Call Display
Call Waiting
2MB of internet use
Who's calling (when your phone is off it still tells you the numbers you missed)
unlimited video and picture files sent/recv'd

then my 30$ plan gets me 150 weekday minutes (which I hardly use cuz I am at work), 50 Long Distance minutes and unlimited evenings and weekends.

I am pretty happy with that except for the internet thing, but I have to learn to live without using a blackberry and having the internet at my fingertips.

hahaha.. that is why I got rid of my blackberry for the time being. I was getting bills over 150$ a month. You must use your phone a lot then cuz your data plan you shouldn't be over what they allow. My last few months before getting rid of mine, I was still only using 10MB out of the 25MB they allow you.

My phone calls is what killed me.
