Who thinks we should have a sticky for all DJ sets?

After it was suggested, I thought it might be a good idea. Instead of having individual threads for each set d/l everyone can go into one & look for themplus its also pretty good if youre looking for an old set & you can't find a thread or whatnot. I can remove the attn promoters sticky & place the DJ Set D/L sticky in its place. Let me know what you guys think & Ill do it. That means that ALL DJ sets go in there & radio shows, etc.

[This doesnt have to get out of hand if you disagreeI just want to see if people like the idea.]

Thanks guys.

The search sucked because there was an error with two threads in one of the subforums. Swamper fixed it.

Gratzi!

I'm against it. See below:

All of those stickies from New York and other cities are livesets from djs like AVB, Sasha, Desyn Masiello, Digweed, and so forth. They are not for TAs. The only other subforum doing it in your way is the Toronto forums and that's because they have tons of users and the mixes would often flood the forums. Our forum is pretty low key and not that active similar to the Atlanta forums which renders no need to have such a sticky. I love the current system. When somebody has a new mix they make a new thread. The main reason is because I like to keep track of people's comments even if only a few people post in my thread. Another reason is because I want to prevent pigeonholing. I often make sets of many genres like prog house, prog trance, techno, uplifting trance, and my upcoming tech-trance mix which you should download by the way when it comes out.

But anyways that's my case. Hopefully more djs step up who agree with me.

Soundz good...but will people check it I know on the main page it just gets lost.
Curious to what the rest of the local (Miami) and Florida Dj's think. Its only a couple of us that keep the newest tunes in the mix for download. IMO great idea...more reviews...

yeah thats what I meant, possibly having our own with those sets. People making their own thread posting their own mix doesnt cause problems. The way we currently do it is fine I think.

The only stipulations (according to the TOTA download thread, anyway) are:

1. No singles (vinyls, CDRs)
2. No CDs (albums)

My nigga TranceGrooves has done a great job maintaining that thread, to say the least.

Me and Lis are still debating it, chief...

Posted by FallingMoon on Nov-21-2006 18:05:

I wouldn't allow singles or CDs...that is unacceptable in TA so I wouldn't allow it on this forum. If someone were to be a jackass & do it, I'd remove the links of course.

The only thing its for is DJ SETS...I am 50/50 on this, I can see you DJs like individual attention for your sets & I totally get it but then you have some threads of someone posting a mix & no one even goes in it...or you just have a clutter of threads.

It was a suggestion given to me, I did not pick one side...I'm leaving it mostly for the DJs to decide because it's their stuff.

If the majority don't like the idea I will not go with it, it's not about me wanting to not give DJs proper attn or whatever.

Posted by koky69 on Nov-21-2006 18:16:

Just do it and see how it works out Lis .. If it sucks , then take it out .. One of our local famous dj's once told me " YOU CAN NEVER PLEASE EVERYONE" !! So fuck it

Yeah but alot of times there are more views than replies in some of those DJ threads... Having this thread will prevent bumping old threads... This way if someone can't stop playing a certain set they can just go into this thread & post there remarks on it.

Downloads do expire making it easier to keep the thread updated on a weekly to monthly basis. If a DJ wants to keep a valid link keep it up to date if not it should get deleted. In DA's case where would he post his HOTMIXES???

If he records a few a week to practice & shrapen his skills & wants to share with us... Where would he post them???

Posted by JohnPaullino on Nov-21-2006 18:28:

how is the scene suppose to improve if the mixes are placed in a sticky, there's alot of talent out there and by making a thread gives lesser known djs a chance to get heard.

lol..This is True....
But You know first hand KOKY we put a lot of time and effort into these sets 4 hours of recording and mixing these sets.

I mean not to speak only for myself but Eric, Doug, Relik, John and Others we are dedicated to this music. We eat, sleep, breath this stuff. Its always nice to see people TUNE in or your just to say thank you for the mix. Your not going to get the massive tracks that we play and quality from any of the superstars for download weekly, So we do it for free. I know personally I work, to eat, live, and to play this music.

To alot of us our local fans and friends is what keeps us going. You guys know us for who we are not what tracks we play every week or what club we play weekly.

So 50/50 doesn't matter just keep the thread alive if we start it..

Yeah i guess you're right Kaenow.. I mean , i saw it as a way to make easier to find the set. But yeah i didnt see it from you guys point of view. I more than everyone knows you guys need the most attn from each set you guys make to actually be seen and be paid attn too. In a Dj career thats very important . My bad for just looking to make it easier for us non Dj's to find you guys sets .. lol . I for once changed my opinion about something on here . Peace

lol..Have a drink on me PVD.....w0000000000t..
Saturday full from left over turkey nothing to do Sunday..
what a week this is going to be..

A thread for DJ sets.. Yes. If ppl wanna be nice a share.

Not a sticky though.

I don't think the FLTA dj's should include themselves in that one because they do not make sets often.

Just DA now cuz he jsut got his new toy.

Once the toy gets old it'll become slow. Eric ahsnt posted a promo in a month or so. So no point in a sticky.

Posted by MJM74 on Nov-21-2006 19:58:

How are the new comers or vistors supposed to see what style or skills our Florida TA DJ's have if the thread is 5 or more pages gone??

I mean there are always people viewing & always new members joining. It would be a good way for them to get a chance to DL many different sounds of EDM, especially on a EDM website.

How about then we have a thread for only links to the threads or to the sets only.

This isn't a bad idea.

I'm saying if TA's want to share their mixes to make their own threads.

It's not so often that it happens for us to put a sticky for it.

Let it be the way it is now cuz the links will expire so it's a waste of space here.
