wtf...

is this shit?

incase you cant see it- its a minesweeper looking icon that changes into one of those windows alert things and a bubble pops up from time time to time telling me i have a virus. when i click on it it takes me to an anti virus site. i ran my antivirus and my spyware checker and they both turned up nothing. I looked in my programs incase i installed something by mistake and nothing out of the ordinary there. i checked my start up programs and everything's fine, I restarted and nothing happened.... im stumped. any suggestions?

Stuff that your anti-virus/spyware software can't pick up. The same thing happened to me a while back when I got massively infected for some reason. Nothing would pick it up, but there was plenty of it sitting right in front of me.

Can't remember how I got rid of it, though.

This happened to me recently. Bring up your task manager to see what programs shouldn't be running. Determine where they are (most likely in your Program files) then reboot into safe mode, delete those files and then restart Windows normally.

I hope this helps.

Yeah. Look for programs that are using barely any memory, like 5-10K in size. These bugs were no bigger than 10k last I recall in my situation.

alright well I tried that and I ended up shutting my comp down . any way you can tell which ones dont belong here...(the gold codec is the bug)

Well, I'll be damned. You got the same exact bugs I did. And I apologize. The file sizes are bigger than I thought. The incident in my case happened like a week or 2 ago.

isamini.exe
pmmon.exe
pmsngr.exe

I think there's a couple more but I'm not exactly sure. However, you can bet that they're all in the same folder, that "Gold Codec" folder. Just reboot into safe mode, delete that entire folder, then reboot into Windows normally and you should be fine.

Download HijackThis from here , then run it and post the description of your problem and your HijackThis log on one of the forums listed here

yeah, get hijackthis. and also don't use limewire. that is prob why you have this.

First of all, you have a HELL of a lot of programs running on your pc, this isnt good for a start.

Secondly, to my knowledge Gold Codec I think is to do with Real Player.

Best thing to do is go through each process one by one typing it into google. If some turn out to be nasties, you can bet your ass there will be some sod who has had it, and some other git who got rid of it some how.

It is interesting to see that there is a time delay between the two taskbars, not too sure how important this is but it certainly rules out a simple fuck up of windows since both times would at least allign.

Also make sure you d/l Zonealarm.

Firewall's are in my opinion more important than antivirus.

Some good tools for PC's can be found here:

Let me know what goes on!

V interesting indeed!
