DJ Agencies

I found some DJ Agencies on the net,and most of them charge you money to be part of them.

do you think spending money on this is really helpful to promote yourself and get bookings.

if so, wich DJ Agencies do you know that are good, and might be looking for DJ's.

In a nutshell... No.

The ones that want your money have no contacts to speak of and the only way they manage to stay alive is by charging people to be part of it.

Only time a DJ agency is worth anything is when they come after you, and even then, check them out plenty before you even consider signing anything.

A lot of agencies will sweet talk you to sign up but will very often neglect their part of the arrangement in the first year of the contract. Many will start to get busier when you are up for renewal.

Rule of thumb with DJ agencies is do not sign for too long and do not let them have an exclusive on you unless the deal is really sweet.

A bad decision on one of these babies and it can really mess your dream up.

They talk sweet as you say nem, butI'm not completely sure they are trustable. they ask 250 GB Pounds to join them, ifthey think you are enough good.

on the other side, I search for DJ Agencies and found some like

This one is Agency of Sasha, Zabiela, Nick Warren, Steve Lawler & More.
I found many others klike this with big artists, but they never ask for new DJ's.

So the serious ones seem to not be looking for new artists on the net.

Yup - NEVER pay to be in an agency. The only reason an agency would ever get you to pay is if they know they're not going to get you enough gigs to make any money on commission. Once they've got your money it makes no difference to them whether you get any gigs or not so you probably won't hear from them again.

Working on commission guarantees that they'll try as hard as they can to get you gigs, cos that's the only way they'll benefit from it. Also, until you're a superstar I strongly recommend making sure you're not exclusively signed to any particular agency... i.e. you're free to arrange bookings yourself. I'm under 2 agencies and currently get more gigs off my own back than through them (plus I get to promote myself in my own way etc), although they're both relatively new so the balance may shift - the main benefit of this is it means that anything they get you is just a bonus on top of any gigs you're already getting so you're not relying on them and it really is a nothing-to-lose situation.

Again the fact that they charge you to sign up is criminal.

It's an agencies job to make you money from the bookings they get you not from you as a signing fee.

That site is just tacky and so is the assortment of DJs. If you check a lot of the profiles it's just people standing in their bedrooms. At least have your picture taken outside so at least we don't know if you are a bedroom DJ or Club DJ...

Seriously, it takes a lot for you to need management and basically you really have to be setting fires whever you go. People just want to be signed to an agency as it makes them sound more serious or acomplished and truth be told that most promoters hate dealing with those cheapo agencies anyway. And unless it's based in your country it's pretty rare that you will get any booking from it at our level.

Save your money dude.
