Are two laptops necessary?

Posted by iammesol on Nov-26-2006 21:14:

um... overkill?

especially since he doesn't really re-edit tracks live

Posted by DJ Stella on Nov-26-2006 21:15:

i beg to differ....i saw him on thursday and i was right by the booth with nefardec and he was clearly re-editing on the fly, he has most of his work pre-done though (which is basically what mixing on ableton requires anyway). also WTF is that mystery box on the left of that pic?!?? ive been trying to figure it out for days now

edit: i just noticed that pic was from vanguard lol...but whats that box on the left? custom midi controller???

Wow he uses Sony 7506s! I'm thinking about buying a pair of those with some Christmas cash

Anyone know what MIDI controller that is? At first I thought it was the Evolution MK-425C (the one I've got) but there are more knobs and the buttons are to the right of the lcd instead of under it.

i thought it was an m-audio oxygen. and that pad between the cdj's is an m-audio triggerfinger. i don't really know my shit though so don't quote me on that

edit: on first glance at m-audio.com, i was waaaayyy off.

Especially since it could all be accomplished with just the Xone 3D and ableton live...

They are awesome - seriously don't even think about getting any other headphones. These are so comfy and sound so crisp and clear.

Sometimes I find myself wearing them even when they aren't playing any music.....

And I cannot believe that some people are knocking PvD for using all that kit. He's the number one DJ - it's up to him!

he's got to have all the other stuff to do so he doesn't look like Blank & Jones.

I've got Sennheiser HD555s (which suck for the music I listen to.. they're sooo comfy though) and AKG K81DJs, my primary electronica cans, but my problem with the K81s is that they're ridiculously uncomfortable after about an hour since I wear glasses. I'm seriously considering replacing my Senns with these because I hear the comfort is great, and they're good all-around cans (especially good for electronica, i've heard). After reading the other thread on these and your reply, I think I'm going to put my Senns up for trade on Head-fi for a pair of these

Good lad - you won't regret it. If you do I'll let you punch me in the face.
