Casino Royale

anyone else seen it?
just saw it last night, and compared to recent bond movies, fuckin excellent
not up to par with some of the older ones, but still, wasn't expecting it to be
the most important part however...eva green
holy SHIT she's hot

Nice! So stoked to see this flick. I may go tomorrow after work because I can't wait to see it with my girlfriend

When you say "not up to par" how do you mean? Story wise?

Posted by Danny Ocean on Nov-26-2006 23:35:

they were just telling me about how good this movie is like 5 minutes ago haha..i heard Daniel Craig was spot on..i'm dying to see the Casino/Poker scene.

Saw it an hour ago, it was good. The best part by far is at the beginning when he's chasing that black bomber guy. He (bomber) should try his luck at parkour, he has some mad skills at running away and avoiding obstacles.

Really? Nice. Although it doesn't surprise me. He was running away like crazy, I would be breathless after one minute of running away like that.

Movie is KILLER, Daniel Craig rocked it. He's a more gritty bond thats also more realistic, he bleeds and bruises jsut like anyone else and doesnt have a witty comment for every person he kills. This bond was a amazing. I already seen casion royale 3 times. The cast to is amazing, working perfectly off each other. Def GO SEE THIS MOVIE.

Posted by mezzir on Nov-26-2006 23:46:

hahaha just remembered the best part
bond walks up to the bartender, in a rush looking completely disheveled
bond: dry martini
bartender: shaken or stirred?
bond: do i look like i give a fuck?

Posted by Danny Ocean on Nov-26-2006 23:48:

a less sophisticated Bond haha. He does sound more badass though, less gadgets..he can kill with bare hands i hear.

Wanna see Eva Green in all her glory? Rent the Dreamers. Youll thank me later.

I saw it last night and I dont think its as good as everyone says it is. If they wouldve cut it down closer to 2 hours it may have been better. But it is definitely the best Bond film in a long time and Daniel Craig is easily my favorite Bond.

Its not over the top with gadgets and special effects like the Pierce Brosnan Bond movies, its just straight up action, Bond-style.

could have seen it...went to see a movie and we didn't.

it was good, but no gadget guy(waz Q, can't remember the name of the new guy except that the actor was john cleese) and they only played the old skool bond theme once(last scene). also, the intro song sucked imo.

Casino Royale was the first bond book Ian Flemming wrote (I think) and it takes place before Bond became the ass kicker that he's been in the previous movie. Basically, he didn't have an assortment of gadgets that were available to a 00 agent because he wasn't one. How many times were you expecting the Bond theme anyway? I don't remember it being played a lot in other films.

true, but that for me kinda tied into how those movies played on the fact that we already liked bond and they were just trying to give us more of the same
this one was distinctly different

New bond makes brosnan look like a little bitch...

Amazing movie going to see it again friday and Eva Green is gorgeous

Oh and yes Casino Royale is bonds first mission, supposed to be set before all the other bonds, may be one of the reasons why no gadgets were in the film. Other than that I am really anticipating the next releases.

btw anyone who's a fan of this movie should go see layer cake

1 martini please

stirred or shaken ?

do i look like i care ?

LMFAO

Posted by stren on Nov-27-2006 10:05:

I saw the movie, the story is boring and the villan is a total pussy, not imressive at all. However Daniel Craig as the new Bond is superb, as expected, and Eva Green very hot indeed, i love the shape of her eyes

Saw it on the Saturday it came out. Fantastic movie, and quite the change from the over-the-top stories/plots that the more recent Bonds seem to have become (especially the one with Halle Berry; worst Bond ever, imo).

I liked how the movie was focused a lot less on the action and better detailed with twists, suspense, and an actual Bond love-life. Daniel Craig is easily in the running for taking Brosnan's place as second-best Bond.

10/10

Saw it way back before Craig was announced as the new Bond. I had zero doubts of his ability to play Bond because of it.

Loved this movie, but the haven't cleared up all the stuff that made recent bond films so poor, mainly the realism factor

warning - a few minor spoils... don't read the rest of this post if you haven't seen the film and you don't want it spoiled.

for example near the beginning they drive through a bendy bus, which promptly explodes, then, while still driving the same fuel truck a bunch of guys shoot the hell out of it, but it doesn't explode, despite the fact it is leaking fuel all over the place, and jet fuel is flammable as hell.

another example is the self administered heart zapper (i can't think of it's proper name atm), which simply wouldn't work.

on the otherhand, if they keep the same low level of semi-beleivable gadgets, and probably some of the same gadgets, in later films it won't get so silly that he just happens to have the right gadget, without knowing he needed it.

Well, compared to the more recent Bond films those "unbelievable" aspects of the film are far, far less noteworthy than, say, a mansion in the middle of an ice-field followed by Bond dangling from a huge ice cliff.
