I quit smoking!

It's only been a week so far, but it's been surprisingly easy.

I haven't had that many serious cravings. When I DO have them, I just think of the smell and taste and it gives me a headache/makes me nauseous...and the desire to smoke is gone!

I'm proud of myself!

Here's a tip i found useful. When everyone around you is smoking and you get the urge, just have a look at all the crap in the ashtray - it'll remind you of how fucking dirty the habit is.

Well, I actually started to cut down last February as my first effort to quit. I cut out all my habitual smoking...first thing in the morning, with tea, after meals and sex, with alcohol, etc.

I went from between half a pack - a pack a day, to no more than 5 a day.

Starting school again made it even easier to not smoke. Since September I cut it down to no more than 3 a day.

I knew last year that I would quit after my 26th birthday...hence the gradual cutting down.

Oh yeah for sure! The thing that really helps me, is every time a smoker gets on the city bus...how much they stink up the WHOLE bus. I just tell myself, "That's how YOU smell! YOU SMELL WHEN YOU SMOKE! YOU'RE GROSS!"

A lady got on the bus the other day after having a smoke, and sat down right in front of me. She stunk so bad it made me angry and sick to my stomach. I wanted to punch her in the back of the head, lol.

Not to mention the fact that I'm stronger than to be a slave to such a dirty, unhealthy habit. How could I continue to CHOOSE that for myself?? Makes no sense.

Hey jenny. Thought I'd let you know that smoking does not cause cancer. I smoke because it's cool. It warms me up in the cold times and it gives me something to do... ah-when there's nothing to do. So I hope you didn't quit in fear of getting the cancer.

Well, it's a choice, right? Gotta REALLY want it, and be accountable for it. Makes it a hell of a lot easier.

This is something I KNEW I wanted...but it took me almost a year of mental preparation to get here. I don't think I could have done it as easily if I just woke up one day and decided to quit cold turkey right there.

My fiance's old man quit cold turkey about a year ago. He was so happy not to hack up tar balls in the morning!

Granted, he'd been smoking since 16.
