The "NEW" Shiloh
Hating Their New Style.
WHY WHY WHY is electro taking over like this ?
I want the old melodious prog breaks Shiloh back.
I think the quality is there regardless, one of a few acts who I think can put their hands to nearly anything & do better than most.

| Colin Moreh everyone is entitled to their opinion. just as i have a right to think that the floaty "proggy" stuff of 3 years ago is way too overdone and just won't float my boat or a dancefloor anymore. however, to insinuate that we've sold out because we've worked hard to keep it fresh and not taken an easy route for us--pushing our art forward now just as we did 3 years ago, well I don't agree with that needless to say. even if you're right, and everyone out there thinks that our old stuff is king and our new direction isn't so hot... at least we'll go down in flames being true to ourselves. |
yeah their new style sucks, i loved their album bleed, not much electro in there

i myself prefer shiloh's old stuff better, but as a producer myself, i see where they are coming from. remember, a lot of producers make the music for themselves and release it out to the public, some will like it and some wont, but what kind of producer makes music that they dont like to please the crowd.

They cant win really. Some people dislike the new style, others were bored of the old style. Cant please everyone really.
I love both Shiloh styles... *shrug*
As for playing @ Hush... I didn't think that venue was very special when I played there
The "new" Shiloh kicks ass, just like the "old" Shiloh...
One could almost, almost, assume that it's the same guys!
as far as I heard Shiloh I both liked their older style, but this new electro stuff isn't that bad either. Somehow the whole proggy scene is changing electro and minimal takes over from the good old 10-12 minute long dreamy tracks. Actually, I can't see any problem with this, since this make the whole scene interesting.
I don't really how this new style is popular in North America, but in Europe people mad about it. Shiloh was one of the biggest favorites of the Hungarian scene, and they're even more popular now - so they must be doing something well.

Whatever they've done so far I've liked. Even "electro" house they have been able to find a way to breathe their own creative style into it and make it interesting to me. I really want to see them live.
