c0r i need your help... yes, i'm desperate.

I need to lose 25 pounds. Before i was pregnant, i was 121 pounds since jr high. Today i now weigh 147. I am don't have alot of time to devote to going to the gym since eli is working 10 hrs away, i am with rowan 24/7. I need to know what food/drink i should have to promote weight loss and what excersises at home i can do that will be efective. I don't want to do a bunch of research on the internet. I want to know what worked for you if you had to watch your weight/loose it. I am retarded when it comes to this because my metabolism used to be faster then a teen girl with low self-esteem.

KFC

k...

...only drink water, don't use plastics because plastic is said to be poisenous. Go buy some Zone bars. They're delicious. Eat a snack size everyday every 4 hours, and eat like you normally would, just healthier.

Get out an run, excercise

NO FRIED FOODS LOL (because wienerschnitzel is fried lol and your name is....ok yeah....sorry)

The number one thing you can do to start cutting calories is reduce your sugar intake. How are with Cokes and things like that?

Posted by wienerschnitzel on Nov-27-2006 19:54:

oh yeah! that one!

Posted by wienerschnitzel on Nov-27-2006 19:56:

i eat alot of chocolate and drink gingerale, other then that i'm fine. I got something from the vitamin store to help regulate blood sugar levels.

Jogging and sit ups/crunches. Jogging is great because you can take Rowan with you and just jog for a couple of miles, sit ups/crunches you can just do at home. If you can get yourself some little weights you could just work out at home. You wouldn't need to get anything heavy, 10 or 15 pounds at the most. Also, cut back on soft drinks, if you happen to drink any, and maybe cut down on the size of the meals you eat. Instead of 3 regular sized meals, try 4 or 5 smaller meals through out the day.

Or yeah, the speed diet would work too.

For the rest of your child's life, periodically point at your hips and belly, and say "LOOK WHAT YOU DID TO ME". It worked for my mom, and after many years, she's lost....uhhh.....

this guy is correct.

count your calories.. your weight times 10 + about 400 or 500 calories extra should be your maximum caloric intake. you should start to loose weight that way.

Excercise will help burn some more calories (cardio vascular, swimming, running, cycling, endurance sports etc) Resistance training will build muscle and increase your metabolism (help you to burn calories quicker)

thanks bas.. that's another thing, there is 5 inches of snow outside and it's -20 C. and WTF IS the speed diet? (other then nchs09's speed diet, unless that IS the speed diet in which case i will STFU)

Posted by mezzir on Nov-27-2006 19:59:

yeah substitute soda for tea, and good green/black teas if you want the caffeine, which isn't all bad for losing weight

or you could do what i do, just don't eat

though smoking kinda does that to me which you absolutely shouldn't do anywhere near a kid

yay for being healthy!
(boo for me :/)

sushi diet.

Posted by Slylee on Nov-27-2006 20:01:

do The Master Cleanse. aka "The Lemonade Diet". you'll drop like 10 lbs in a week. it's pretty much a liquid diet, but the purpose is for detox, not weight loss, although it's a given that you'll drop weight on just liquids.

oh, and don't worry too much about it for now, she's still so little. wait until she starts walking. my sister dropped like 15lbs just because when they get to that age, you can't take your eye off them for even 2 seconds, so she stopped having time to sit down and eat and was constantly chasing my nephew around the house.

It's funny, I was going to make a similar thread. My plan to lose 28 pounds starting today. A lot of your suggestions are very useful.

Ok, I'll give you 3 tips that can really help.

1. Cut the sodas and candy

They are just empty calories, no two ways around it. They don't do anything beneficial for your body. I know they are comforting and make you feel good but, once you get over the craving to eat them you will feel better overall.

2. Eat early, eat often

Breakfast should be your largest meal of the day and you should eat smaller meals more frequently throughout the course of the day, as opposed to three big meals. This keeps your metabolism higher and allows you to burn more calroies. Whenever possible, don't eat after 7 pm, even snacks, this will help you burn calories all through night. Additionally, the calories you eat later at night are more likely to be stored as fat.

3. Eat balanced meals. You should have a little bit of fat, carbs, and protein at every meal. This also helps stabilize your blood sugar and keeps your metabolism up.

These are just some general rules and I wrote this pretty quickly, so just ask me if something is unclear.

You can...run around the house?

edit // A big +1 to the no sodas, I lost 10 pounds EASY but just not drinking soda anymore. The best thing to do is completely cut it out, don't even move to diet because that doesn't help the case any.

If you can't go running outside, get a workout DVD. One that will help you lose weight as well as tone.

Posted by Slylee on Nov-27-2006 20:11:

lol and when is she supposed to find time for all of this with a new born baby?

Posted by Ygrene on Nov-27-2006 20:12:

Here is another general tip for weightloss, this time on the exercise side:

The best way to burn fat (well, second best) is to perform cardiovascular exercise for a minimum of 30 minutes, first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. This forces your body to draw on it's stored calories (fat). You can consume water prior and during the exercise but, NO FOODS WITH CALORIES.

All she has to do is change her eating habits, it shouldn't be time consuming at all.

How would a home workout dvd be taking time away from her baby? Place in DVD player, baby cries or whatever, pause fix baby crying, play dvd, workout ensues.

Posted by Slylee on Nov-27-2006 20:23:

what i'm getting at is that having a new baby in the house drains you physically and mentally. she's probably not getting nearly enough sleep as she needs or is used to, so when the baby is napping, i'm sure she needs to catch up on her own sleep...that's all.

But yeah, cutting out the soda is a nice way to start. And it's easier than you think. I stopped drinking soda basically on principle; I realized that ALL I was drinking was pop and NOTHING else. Once I realized the idiocy of such a practice (going through a 12 pack in a day or two was not out of the ordinary) I decided to remove it from my diet. I still love fountain drinks though and that kinda sucks when I go out. I only give in every once in a while. It's all about moderation.

And that's why she could also use the speed diet. Just cook up some speed and voila! You now suddenly have more time and energy than before, who needs to be pestered with sleep anyway?
