Chicane - Saltwater 2006

Well we were all waiting for this. After Saltwater (Original) & Saltwater 2002 (didn't know about it till now), Saltwater 2006 (tech-trance remix) is already released on vinyl in Holland.

My. It sounds horrible.

Originally is going down by the wayside....what ever happened to creating a new and ORIGINAL tune? Is this what trance has become, the re-release genre? It's sad.....

i have some respect for Chicane, dont matter if it's not "cool" or if anyone else here dont give a toss about it.

There is a lot worse out there

Fuck what anyone else thinks

Well, if by "great" and "mighty" you mean "not making random broad and general inferences about the tastes of others in this thread" then yes, I am.

What an incredible tune.

Chicane's old stuff is great, but that's not the point. The point is there are TOO many re-releases and not enough originally nowadays in trance music. Even the tracks that are original tunes, aren't really because they borrow so much from other tracks, sometimes sounding nearly identical.

Not only that, but the production quality in general on this one sounds abysmal.

Really, this is an absolutely butchering of "Saltwater." How rubbish like this is even released is frightening to me...

There are some things in life that should never happen. This hunk of gash is one of them. WHAT WERE CHICANE THINKING.

Christ almighty whoever looked at this hunk of junk and said "LETS RELEASE THIS" needs to be tortured and drowned. Worst bit of aural rape I've heard in a long time. My god.

After you sent me that link I thought "Hmm it couldnt be THAT bad". How wrong I was. I have a good mind to jump out the window just to end the pain of having listened to this unimaginable tripe.

Someone shoot Chicane before I do it myself - I dont want to go to jail.

Meh as long as offshore won't get any tech mix. Unless it's already done without me knowing

This is garbage.

Tune of the year

I honestly don't believe Chicane made this remix.

If they did, why hasn't anyone told them how bad it is?
If they didn't, the guy that did the remix was eventually smart enough to NOT put his name behind the track, otherwise he would be known as 'the guy who fucked up Saltwater'.

Posted by Unique2701 on Nov-27-2006 23:58:

Neh Nick didn't do it.. its on White Label too.

Doesn't say who remixed it tho

Posted by Igaryok on Nov-28-2006 01:38:

It doesn't sound that bad, but yeah it's pretty bad compared to the original. I can't wait for Nick to release a new album, though.

I don't even want to listen

I don't either, I know how it sounds before even listening...

Posted by isoterra on Nov-28-2006 10:08:

i'd play this actually

it's an unofficial bootleg, just a bit of cheeky fun by the sounds of it.. rather than an attempt to live up to the original. labelling it as 'saltwater 2006' is a little pretentious to say the least. it's less of a butchers job than the hard trance mix that came out around 2003 at any rate..

and i'd wager i'm a bigger fan of the original than anyone in this thread before anyone says anything it's become so well cemented into my all time #1 spot that no amount of dodgy remixes can ever ruin it for me
