cosmic gate, dumonde, scot project, mind-x, shokk

I used to like these producers, but now they became very boring. All there tracks and remixes sound the same. They never try anything new. They aren't original. Am I the only one who thinks that?

Hi

I think it is a STYLE and I am not bored to listen these artists !
sounds are very typical ! when I hear a tune I can know IMMEDIATLY who is the productor because : SOUNDS ARE VERY TYPICAL TO THE ARTIST and I looooooooove it !

IT IS A STYLE !

Talking

kinda feel that way too...BUT...lol...if thas there style...so be it...lol...

Smiling Frog

What are you talking about? Every producer/dj have his own style. I dont understand why are you bored just from this artists? Tiesto, PVD, AVB and many other popular and good artists make kind of the same songs all over again. But no one get bored from them.

Posted by davinox on Mar-23-2002 00:16:

woah woah...lets slow down...

Cosmic Gate - All songs follow the same pattern, sound the same, always have. They are more of remixers that give a uplifting hard edge to songs, however, Awakening was not very good, and Punk was average. I think they are getting a little lazy.

Dumonde - Obviously they made a name for themselves by their style. However, now they are trying to branch out. This happens with alot of artists.

DJ Scot Project - This guy is weird, don't worry about it.

Mind-X - Doesn't all hard swiss trance sound the same?

S.H.O.K.K. - I think they have a style without sounding the same. I think they are doing a good job. not as good as Flutlicht, but hey!

I used to like these guys, but not so much now. It's not cause "they all sound the same" but because their stuff is too hard. I think its just hard trance in general... I think all of it is a boring and unoriginal type of music.

Posted by Magimaster on Mar-23-2002 02:31:

It all depends on your mood guys....sometimes I just wanna chillax, so I bust out a nice easy flowing tune...usually something with vocals, but then there are just times when you just wanna try something new....or I want something with a harder beat..

about the style thing...yes that's one unique aspect of artists who have very distinct styles, at a party or whatever you can go "oh hey I know who this is" before everyone else but everyone has their own unique tastes and if you're getting a bit worn out from DJ Scot P's music then move on! heh heh....

god I wish I wasn't the only trance lover in my school.....

That's what I do to... It's hard work, but I have converted a few people

im a huge hard trance fan, more so than uplifting, but i do like my share of uplifting and i have a respect for both styles.

any way i dont think all of the aforementioned artists projects sound the same at all. lets look at some of the facts

cosmic gate: many people seem to think that all off their productions and remixes sound the same. i dont thinks so at all. there might be a certain style to them (hard bassline, heavy synths, exploding climax) but they seem to keep each track diffrent

dumonde: most of their work do not sound the same at all. if you compare never look back, wake up (with tom wax) and can you dig it, you'll see that those are quite a diffrent group of styles

scot project: not the same in most songs. each time he seems to like to try something new

dj mind-x: out of all the artists that were i think he is the most diverse. listen to a track like voyage (club mix) and then listen never talk to aliens or aqualab-journey into trance (whick mind-x worked on) and youll notice quite a diffrence.

S.H.O.K.K.: not the same ethier. hard with intense bass and synths, yes. but also has a bit of melody to it also.

man why dont you fuck off, i have seen you complaining about a track by airwave that sounds the same as a remix and it isnt a "style" according to you is it?
i have seen some people from this thread complaining about other artists making remixes that sound the same as one of their productions, apparently, to these people, this isnt a style, but more like cheese or ripp off shit, something was mentioned before about airwave - save me and kings of clubs - revelation (airwave remix). and now we have dumonde who makes a lot of their remixes sound the same, and it this isnt cheese or a rip off to them, but it is a "STYLE". that is a bunch of horse shit. i happen to like dumonde but i dont go around bashing other artists taht sound the same and defending only the ones i like,
so grow up

Posted by integrity1 on Mar-23-2002 03:51:

agreed liquidxxd. like what you want to

Posted by wookieslut on Mar-23-2002 04:03:

dumonde trancer please do not use the word retard. It is extremely offensive.

Posted by Sadmafioso on Mar-23-2002 04:27:

humm...if any of you can do better post your tunes...!!

its hard to be innovative in trance...
im sure you all know what i mean

hehe good said

what I also mean is producers like l-vee, mike, tiesto, avb.
They make songs that sound different.
take tiesto, urban train, magik journey lethal industry they all sound different.
mike produces uplifting, progressive trance and even techno.
l-vee makes lots of progressive trance but also hard trance (the green martian, and uplifting fire & ice)

its ok that you like dumonde or any of the artist i mentioned above, I also like their tracks (somethimes). But I have more respect for artist like tiesto, armin, mike, l-vee etc... Those other artist are just trying to do the same thing over and over again. I don't no the right word in English but in dutch they call that "uitmelken"

Something about scot project, he was my favorite remixer, I loved and still like fire wire, arome - somebody and hennes & cold - the second ...

But he has made so many remixes
always starting with an intro, than the bassline kicks in, after that a break (and lately lots of cheesy breaks) and than the bass kicks in again.

Ok,I'll be honest with you:I HATE german hard trance. It's cold, sterile, without any soul what so ever and so formulaic that it makes me puke. It's fun a couple of times, simply because it's so fucking bad that it's fun(I like some Hennes & Cold,Cosmic Gate & S.H.O.K.K remixes, like Urban Train(Cosmic Gate Remix),The Drill (Hennes & Cold Mix) and Dave Joy - First Impression (S.H.O.K.K Remix)) but when I've listened to a german/swiss hardtrance set for about a half hour,it has become so formulaic and repetitive that it makes me puke.In my opinion, geman and swiss hardtrance is the worst form of electronic music that exists.I'll probably get flamed, but that's just my opinion.

Trance comes from GERMANY guys !
The best Trance is from SWITZERLAND, HOLLAND, and of course : GERMANY !
IMPOSSIBLE TO DISAGREE !!! if you DISAGREE : YOU ARE NOT A TRANCELOVER !

Shame / Disagreement

So what if it "started" in Germany! The whole scene has evolved into
the worse, that's why I hate it now!Of course back in the days things were good with Jam & Spoon,Hardfloor and so on,but now the whole scene is rotten to the core because of all the crap euro- and hardtrance that's circulating in the area. That doesn't mean that all german trance is bad,(I love PvD as much as you do,and Humate,DJ Dag and Tillmann Uhrmacher(occasionally) make good stuff)but the bad trance with its overused and repetitive formula is so dominating that it steals all the attention from the real quality stuff out there.(like the ones I mentioned above)And THAT is what makes the german/swiss trance so repulsive.

i said melody in my thread you irritable fuckwit. fucking read.

i dont go about confusing style with "sounding the same" like that airwave track did.

Posted by Sadmafioso on Mar-23-2002 18:29:

humm....yea its not because it started in germany that everyone needs to love german trance

but i think that german trance KICKS ASS!!!

Posted by Werewolf on Mar-24-2002 00:33:

1) German Trance kicks ASS ! no doubt...
2) I agree with those who say that every dj has his own style, which means they do not have all the same songs. I said it before, and now I'm saying it again...

Ur right..
Same style ,but very different!!!!

Posted by Superscope on Mar-24-2002 15:22:

Ure still all missing the point. I like my hard trance music but its gotta have melody sumwhere and its gotta be interesting. Id never go and play a set full of just hard trance, but hard trance tracks are essential building blocks for an ass shakin dj set.

U gotta span the board and mix and match tracks along the way of your journey. Remember, all tracks are weapons and u just have to know when to shoot to kill Peace out
