Comment on this section......

Read what others have posted in the original thread

Things to do BEFORE this section becomes active:

1) DETAILED rules and what is and what isn't allowed - and the fact that this section has NOTHING to do with TRANCEADDICT.COM but that the details of the transacation/arrangement will be done through EMAIL - I have no time to babysit.

2) Classification of new threads with selection of either For Sale: or Wanted: when a new thread is made

3) If you post something to SELL then once that sale is complete the thread will be closed and the last post in the thread will be by the BUYER. The last post will list the BUYER's comments on their experience

4) If you post something to BUY then once the item is acquired then the thread will be closed with the last post being YOUR comments
on your exerience. In the subject of your last post you put the complete username of the person you bought it from.

#3 / #4 are required so that you can view what feedback people have said about that particular person AND have a list of the items associated with those comments. They'll be listed from most recent to oldest.

Things to work on once section is open:

1) Listing the Thread Starters' Country (flag) selection and have it display in threads in this section - allow custom search option of only a certain country (this may take a while so I can skip it)

Suggestion: if someone sends money (how doesnt matter) and the seller DOESN'T send his item, that the buyer can report it so the seller can't any threads on here no more (being banned)

more suggestions will come, cuz this forum can cause a lot of problems for ta

i only got 2 questions really.

1: are we limiting this to certain items, eg. music related, mixers / decks / headphones / studio equipment / vinyls / cd's etc or to anything that anyone has to sell ? (i suggest we do limit to music related)

2: is it possible to have like a rating's system, like on ebay you can rate a seller / buyer and from that history of a buyer / seller u can tell wether buying or selling to that person is a good risk to take.

Only other points i can think of are NO MP3 CD's wether they be data or audio as we dont want to attract copyright infringements.
Liveset CD's are still a dodgy issue as to their legality, so i suggest we dont allow those either.
And of course no warez related stuff.

I know a couple of the above points were raised in the other thread but it never hurts to have a reminder.
and for sure only let members with at least 30 days membership access here.

Otherwise apart from the disclaimer which still needs to be sorted i think its pretty sound . .

i was just hinking with what jddark said and what if someone doesnt get there goods or whatever and they report it to a authority and the fags come on here and maybe have a go at shutting it down? (i dunno the mp3s or something)????? am i being paranoid?

Posted by flystyler on Mar-25-2002 12:09:

Well is this also going to start of with only certain members allowed to post stuff for sale. For example you need a certain amount of posts? Or wil it go with how long they have been a member, so people dont just spam so they can post stuff for sale?

Otherwise all sounds god, as long as it cant get back to tranceaddict

This suggestion sounds good.

It's good too that we limit the nature of products exchanged here- only music related sounds good. Otherwise we'll have abusers selling unwanted stuff and people who bought them getting ripped off.

I think ripped CDs are a tacky issue- it's better not to allow these.

And what about a seperate forum for "Wanted" and "Selling"? That would make things alot easier for people browsing them.

Other than that, I think this idea's really good. The ratings thing sounds great too.

Swamper i think its better if you call its Sale/Buy/Trade section.
Cuz some people would rather trade as well.

Posted by Swamper on Mar-25-2002 17:59:

How could it be linked to the site? The trade is done between 2 people via email or ebay - not through the site.

If you start talking to someone on icq and you meet them and they turn out to be a psycho do you sue icq? I don't think so.

if u buy something on ebay, and you send money, but you don't get the item you payed for, ebay will re-imburse ip to 120 (-15 for paperwork and so) so they are insured, i dont think that ta is insured for this (im sure of it) so a disclaimer, rating system and so on would be a good addition if this section will go up sometime...

Posted by Ste on Mar-26-2002 00:20:

you know i was a bit paranoid when i kept goin in here an seeing no threads!!!

ahh good idea for the section specially if u have unwated vinyls that people may want

eg. gibbo has a scot project white label of "U" remixes which may be very valuable to a scot p fan whereas complety uselss to him!

edit: oh yeh and im on the lookout for some cheap dex n mixer hehehe so it wud be handy section

I definately agree with having a Status clause for people wanting to sell something. It would be a way of filtering out those that are serious and those that would just use the site as an E-bay. IMO i don't think TA should do this. too many complications. Maybe only allow people to post WANTED/SELLING but then they leave an email and have the people deal directly with each other.

Umm.. That's exactly what I posted at the start of the thread?

Wasn't that Napsters argument?

As for limiting it to people with 30 days, I'd suggest more given the amount of trouble some people like to cause around here.

yeh but then again the stuff transferring through here doesnt break copyright restrictions. well vinyls anyway...

so ner

I think that this is a great idea! .. there are already many different threads on buying and selling music related items in the different forums. Now people just have to go to one forum and it will give them the opportunity to buy/sell their stuff.

Smart thinking Swamper!

Be Cool!

open open open!!!!!

Posted by oDrori on Apr-06-2002 10:21:

This place is gonna be a big mess, IMO you have to split it first of all to Buy/ Sell sections and then each of those whatever you think necessary (IE In both the Buy and Sell sections there will be the "DJ Equipment" section, the "Music Section (Couldn't find a better name for a section to sell CDs and Vinyls)" etc. etc. Whatever U can think of...

I think this is necessary cause if not there would be too many posts per page to view all new posts and handling the place will be impossible to manage through...

Good Luck!

I second that...

Selling
Equipment
Vinyl, CD, 8-Track
Other

Wanted
Equipment
Vinyl, CD, 8-track
Other

IMO, an "other" section would really be good so we can not just be trading music stuff... for instance, if I want a shirt that I cant get in USA (FOR INSTANCE!!!) i caould post a want ad in the 'other' section and maybe a UKTA could hook me up.. see what im sayin?

Great idea though!
