review: Sean Miller headline sonic night... PT2 (clash recordings)
Sorry this is so late, but definitely deserved a review.
Got there around 2, next to no line up. The place was pleasantly crowded but not packed for most of the night. Thanks to Jeff for the passes.
Jonny White did a good job opening, definitely built some energy in the room and a change in style was most effective. I didn't hear anybody complain about the opener, and people were definitely groovin.
Miller took to the decks & took the place by force. The dancefloor was buzzin from the moment he stepped on until the end of the night. (There wasn't tons of people left @ 8am, but those who were there were still going hard) He just kept the momentum building the entire time. IMO this is the best "$10" night out there in T.O., definitely a big bang for your buck (with GL obviously but it's not hard to get) there's no doubt in my mind this night will just get better & better.
Big thanks to Tara for helping me get my gf's blue sonic hat signed by Sean. Thanks Hun!
ps. I'm totally blanking on any track names, but both Miller & White played a solid mix of big tunes & lesser known tracks that was both invigorating & refreshing.

extra thx for the passes then
I had a really good time, last couple of times at Sonic were a bit disappointing to be pretty honest.. but I expected this night to be dark and goovy which it was most of the time...
I liked how the place was filled - not packed, hot - not steaming hot, and it kept filling up slowly but surely until like 4am, and from then everyone stayed until maybe 7 - that's when it started slowly crawling out of there.. and I thought there were still more people than usual in the morning..
If it wasn't for my tetanus shot that day I would have had more fun, but my arm was killing me from time to time so
missed it again ;(
Was supposed to come in for this one. Any more reviews? How was it?
g
damn it i am kicking myself for missing this one for sure
jonny white kills it too and would have been a great opener i think
or was he playing to hard ?
Hey Louis....
Jonny was not playing too hard at all...
We arrived just before 2, the place was quiet...and he was playing some "loungy" sounds...very soothing and a great warm up...then within 30 minutes, he was kicking it good..playing to the crowd...and drawing people to the dance floor...
I think he did a GREAT job opening. I had never heard him before, and I came away very impressed!

Nice one guys
..... thanks for the support on my new concept night and future record label
"CLASH" to me is simple.......Quality Music !! Its what its always been about for me and i will do my BEST to provide you with the best I can get my hands on: ) The club has also agreed to make sure that we get it looking different in there each and every time moving forward. This is important as well, so that when u walk in there u automatically think (alright
It needs to be warm, weird and welcoming so you feel a certain way from the first moment. That along with the music it will provide for a great night out (I hope
Anyways, thanks to sonic and you guys for everything see u on the dance floor!!

We will support you at every CLASH, can't wait for the next one!
For me, I think the best way to describe this night is by saying that it was what it was. If you didn't make it out, you didn't miss all that much. But, if you were there then you had a great time. The music didn't floor me, but I loved every second of it, and it kept me on the dance floor for the bulk of the night which isn't something that happens too often thanks to the sorry state of my knees, although it has been a regular occurance as of late. The people were great, everybody I found myself around has happy and energetic, and there weren't too many of them, which left constant room to move around in. And it was good meeting the great people whom I happened to meet. As per usual, the staff of Sonic was top notch. I have to say, being somebody who's worked in the bar scene for a long time now, it's not too often you find a staff that's so consistently and genuinely friendly. Kudos to the Sonic team on that one.
My only problem of the night was discovering on my way out that I had lost my passport. Crap. That's only my own fault though, and really doesn't affect my opinion of the night whatsoever. I'll be out for the next one, provided I can get in of course.
euthanasia forever!
