Need help enginnering technology peeps!!

i have a paper to write... and i need to find stuff on...well here it is....

i need to find stuff on engineering disasters that involves an aspect of material failures....

so stuff that maybe caused an airplain crash..or caused a building to collaspe..... anybody have any ideas or remember any major disasters due to mechanical failures?

wel thatwas because a plain crashed into it due to terorist...i mean like...something not build right...due to a mechanical flaw...maybe something wasnt done right, like missing bolts or too much weight something along the lines of...

I'd take a gander at race cars. I'm sure there have been accidents when tires weren't completely changed right.

I think better examples could be used than this, since chernobyl was mostly due to human error.

Yeah, dunno what the exact cause of that was. But that was a major disaster.

u could research the event that happened with an airbus crashed in syberia...the 15 year old kid of the pilot accidentally discovered a huge flaw in the plane's autopilot...he actually made it disable itself... and then he crashed the plane and unfortunately everyone died...the investigators used the cockpit voice tape and a flight simulator and then figured out that the autopilot had that huge defect...
