Mid-West Snowboarding Venues?

I've lived my entire life east of Chicago, but now I'm here. Where do I go to snowboard up in Wisconsin or Minnesota? And ideas? Please elaborate on why you've made your reccomendation, thanks. I'll prolly try and plan something for sometime after new years.

So far, I found one place called Spirit Mountain in Deluth, Minnesota; almost ten hours north of Chicago. Does anyone have anything comparable that is much closer to the city? Thanks.

Cascade Mt in Portage, WI

Granite Peak in Wausau, WI

White Cap waaaaaay up in the northern part of the state.

The closest for you is likely a place called Little Switzerland outside the milwaukee metro. Its too short and kinda shitty tho. Id stick to the 3 above

You're not going to find much down there unfortunately.

You should cruise up this way and head to Mt. Bohemia with me some time - It's about 5 hours north of Point (so about 8 hours north of Chicago), but it's as good if not better than a lot of the riding I've done out west.

Depends on what kind of riding you wanna do.

Afton Alps, Buck Hill, Welch Village, Trollhaugen and the Badlands are all within an hour of the Twin Cities. But if you want big hill riding you need to head up near Duluth to places like Spirit Mountain, Lutsten, Giants Ridge and a few other places.

Damn. Just checked this place out. Looks pretty sick. I'm definitely going to have to try and make the trip up there this season. Hell of a drive, but looks like it would be worth it.

All the kids from chicago i'm planning this with are beginners in terms of snowboarding...so they were intimidated by Mt. Bohemia's reputation. Anyone have any information in regards to Granite Peak and Wasauu, WI? I think that hill was 700 feet which was a bit taller than the others I followed up on. But, in terms of where to go after boarding, if there are places? Or should we just head out to Appleton and enjoy some Ravens Lounge action with the locals? lol...anyways...lemme know if you know, and I will try and do the whole Mt. Bohemia thing if I can find a ride up there.

Well, now my friends are kinda backing out of that one too....I'll come back once my world is settled. If anyone can drive me to Copper Harbor, I'd appreciate the ride.
