Native Intruments Kore
What do you guys think of it. I'm thinking of buying it for christmass. Any thoughts or comments on it would be great.
I got it a few weeks ago along with komplete 4 as a package, haven't had time to play with it that much yet but here are my impressions.
Its really good if you have a lot of plugins and patches and you can't sort through them, if you want to play live synths and like to twiddle the settings while your playing its ideal. If you want a proper controller don't even think about it. the only thing the H/W controls is the plugin, not your sequencer or any other plugins.
The design is very nice and it feels nice and solid. the Knobs have quite a good resolution and there are very few bugs (unlike midi). A really nice feature is that when you touch a rotary, the leds around it light up and the lcd tells you what it does. If your doing live keys work it would be very good. It can also be used as a DJing interface because its got 2 seperate outs, headphone and balanced.
Whether its a good buy depends on what you want, but if that stuff sounds good then go for it. I'm quite happy with mine.

looks like a load of crap to me
i dont see any major benefits worth shelling that much out for :P
i bought kore, and komplete 3 together.
the reason why i bought komplete, and then built a new computer for making jams was because of kore. when i saw that i could browse all my patches from one place (kore) i was all over it.
the only problem i have with kore, is native instruments. i curse the day my komplete 4 upgrade came in the mail. everything is all fucked up.

the problem i have w/komplete 4 is that it doesn't install akoustik piano w/a serial number, so i can't register it...
also, the installation cd kept locking up my computer... i ended up having to copy the contents of the cd onto my hd. then it started locking the computer...
after locking up the computer a dozen times or so... i finally got komplete 4 to install in safe mode.
during this time, i accidentally uninstalled reaktor 5...
ok, so now i have komplete 4 in, but reaktor is still out. i try to open some of the new synths, but none of them work. it turns out that i have register them even before i can use them... this sucks because w/komplete 3 i was able to use everything for 30 days before having to register it.
so i try to register... now some48 hours later, i'm still trying to register, also, i find out that akoustic piano never installed w/a serial number, so it will not register no matter what. i don't have a serial for it, because the upgrade package just came w/one serial for komplete for, just to be able to install the damn thing.
now this evening, i was able to register komplete 4, but not acoustic piano.
i also reinstalled kontakt, because for what ever reason, i wasn't getting any sound out of it.
i also got reaktor back in. i used the komplete 3 cd to get reaktor and kontackt back because at least i can use it w/out registering.
now i try to re-register reaktor and kontakt, everything goes ok. i can use each synth on it's own... but when i use kore, kore tells me that i have to register kontakt, and reaktor, but i can still use it for 30days.
also, for what ever reason, when i use fm8 in kore, i just get the same sound out of it, no matter what patch i use.
i'm serious, the native insturments service center (the app that handles registration) sucks dick, and so does their desicion to not let you play w/the synths in komplete 4 unless you register it is horrible too.
if it worked right the first time, and worked like it's supposed to. i would highly recommend it. but now i'm not so sure. kore is great n' all... but i don't recommed forking out more than 1k for the kore/komplete combo only to get a big fat headache that native instruments will give you in return for your investment.
i'm still not done sorting everything out yet, but i'm still very unhappy w/the experience. i've been seriously considering selling all this crap so i can go buy an mpc4000, or something that't not a total piece of shit like the stuff i bought from native instruments.
unfortunatley i don't think my opinion of NI will go up very much, even if i ever get everything sorted out, and working right.
NI can eat a dick, i don't think i'll be buying anyting from them any time soon. sucks for them, but that's good for rane/serato... because that's where i'm heading next. fuck traktor/final scratch.
hey sr, I agree with what you say about Ni, their service sucks and the service center etc is a major bitch. I do however have the solution to your problem, because the same thing happened to me. You need to uninstall every NI thing you have and start from scratch installing Komplete then Kore. Dont ask its just the way it works Yes its a very bad design, yes its stupid, yes someone should lose their job for not having fixed it yet. I had the same problem with Komplete 3 and kore. I installed Kore then komplete and it didn't work, I spent hours trying to work it out. In the end I started from scratch doing Komplete then Kore and it worked first time. Try it and tell me if it works!
anybody else have comments....

i ended up reinstalling everything a while back.
i was also able to register everything. like a week after i re-installed/registered, native sent me an email saying that they fixed the problem w/their server that was causing the registration app to say that i needed to buy license. thx...
w/the re-install, i fixed kontakt... but then reaktor started acting w/kore. some times, i couldn't get any sound out of it. also, w/kore it was telling me that i have to register it, but i can still use it for x amount of days. funny because i don't get the registration message when i use reaktor by it self.
so my newb-ass got a stroke of genious today...
i remembered that i have a certain folder, where i THOUGHT i had all my vst plug ins.... -this is the folder that i set kore to scan. so what i did was copy the vst dll's from the vst folder in reaktor, and pasted them into into folder that i set aside for kore. i had stuff for reaktor in there, but the dll's i put in where newer, since i downloaded all the updates.
viola, now i don't get the registration msg when i use reaktor/kore.
so now, today, everything works like it should. FINALLY.
pfft kore is a bore.
