Just so that everybody knows: Rory is one of the most hated Canuck players (something that has to do with sucking a little bit too much).

....
you need to play well to make it to the allstar game, and having no points yet in 16 games this season, im guessing he's not gonna make it any time soon. This must be a joke....

Posted by SolemnThirsty on Nov-30-2006 03:58:

naslund, sedins twin and luongo are keepin' the canucks afloat

Posted by DjCommisad on Nov-30-2006 17:42:

Two years ago my most hated Canuck was Marek Malik. Wasn't physical, didn't get points, didn't block shots, took dumb penalties, and was basically useless.

The new Malik for me is Fitzpatrick. I don't get to watch many games but every game I watched the Fitz played, I saw AT LEAST ONE GOAL every game where Fitz was on the ice OR IN THE BOX. The goal Nashville scored to beat us 3-2, Sullivan, guess who was the defender? Yeah. And guess what, Sullivan got the rebound while Fitz skated off into the corner. I've seen so many other goals scored while this duke was in the box. He's only a minus 2, but for a 6-7 year vetern, he was making Bourdon look good by comparison and that's saying A LOT since I been saying since before the preseason started that Bourdon should be back in the minors (development - ie more ice time in minors + cap/money reasons).

You guys want a joke vote? Vote for Bulis. He's even more useless at $1.3m.

But yeah I been voting for Marleau, Naslund, and Henrik as well as Ohlund and Pronger. Yeah, boo Pronger, but he's still one of the league's best D. God, the East has so many superstars its insane.

By the way, why the HELL are they having an all star game on a Wednesday? Is Bettman getting dumber? Is that EVEN POSSIBLE?! And the main US carrier of the game will be VERSUS/OLN? OH MY GOD. No one in America is even going to know the All Star Game even exists.

the day I vote for this scab is the day I cut off my arm with a swiss army knife. Go IGGY!!!!

Posted by Joca on Nov-30-2006 23:09:

This reminds me of the DJ Mag poll.......

Greg, Malik rules and really would be great with Vancouver considering he only makes 2.2 million (which is a bargain for a d-man if his cailbre in the "new nhl") and has played well in the NY. That shoot out goal he scored last year alone is worth 1 million!

Posted by SolemnThirsty on Dec-01-2006 06:03:

^that was one of my top clips of last year from the NHL along with Brian Campbell earthquake tsunami hurricane of a hit agianst RJ Umberger

Amazing goal indeed.

you want to pay that turd $2.2m? go right ahead. First of all we don't have $2.2 of cap space left, second of all, I'd rather waive fitzpatrick and bring back columbe and waive chouinard and bulis and use that money to swing a deal for a second line winger. our defense is better this year, and lunongo, tho letting in a softy here and there, is way better than clouts (pulled tonight after stopping 2 of 5 shots in 9 mins against PHOENIX). our problem is we can't score.

and i don't see the logic in paying $2.2m in a capspace world for a dman who scores ONE shootout goal in 82 games. granted is was a good goal. he got paid not for his offense or his physcial play, but apparently somethings there cuz he was +35 on a team that got scored on almost as much as it scored.

a good defensive defender is one that doesn't get noticed (ie ohlund, or neidermeyer) and malik got noticed a fair bit (box). ah well. he wasn't THAT bad but i never liked him so no convincing me otherwise.

Naslund: "Well I think it's pretty funny. Especially when you hear him [Rory] talk about it. He's just as surprised as the rest of us. But it's nice. Pretty funny.

Morrison: "Yea I think it's pretty cool. He has my full support. I mean I haven't actually physically sat down and voted, still need to do that, but I'm talking morally, He has all my support"

Luongo: "Yea I've got to get back to my room sit down and keep voting. I voted quite a few times earlier and so I got to get back on the computer now. It's cool"

In the so called "New NHL" and the insane contracts, 2.2 for Malik is a great deal. Waiving all those players would never happen because, they suck are are over paid. Teams have to actually so intrest and claim them off waivers for us to clear some cap space. Are you just pissed because he screwed up on the Gelinas goal in game 7 of '04? I really think Malik was solid and has played much better defesivly in the NY.

gelinas is insane, such a clutch playoff performer. sad we let him go. he's aged now and pretty much done.

nah every time i turned the tube on malik was taking a dumb penalty or the other team had a wall of their players either untouched and screening or running our goalies over. malik was brought in as a stay at home physical defenseman. his lack of speed didn't help but we had offensive dmen for that anyways. but what bothered me was from what i saw (and i admit i didnt watch every game, not even half really) he wasn't physical. while almost every dman we have takes penalities, he was taking ones that seemed to result in a goal against us or ones that would kill any momentum we had or were building. he must have been more solid than i gave him credit for, to put up numbers like he did (+35) on a team that ran the run-and-gun.

Oh, man... Not a good night tonight...

Posted by SolemnThirsty on Dec-05-2006 07:55:

it's like one step forward, two steps back! no second or third line scoring!

A-a-and we managed to get 3 guys injured, including the seemingly fragile Salo...

Posted by SolemnThirsty on Dec-05-2006 18:16:

^maybe we are playing for draft picks next spring

Posted by DjCommisad on Dec-05-2006 18:35:

we have a lot of draft picks next summer, including LA's 2nd for cloutier. i'm thinking next year's draft will be a decent one, so hopefully our scouting staff can do good for once, ever. i mean you can never tell who will develop properly, but with all these tests these days.. i mean look at some of our recent first round picks.. kesler (03).. nathan smith (00).. brad ference (97).. josh holden (96).. mike wilson (93).. libor polasek (92).. alex stojanov (91) (who redeemed himself by being traded to pens for naslund and then retiring the next year). first rounds that have panned out into nhl players umberger (01).. bryan allen (98).. guys who have potential cory schneider (04).. bourdon (05).. and guys that are solid sedins (99).. and ohlund (94)..

granted these have been over a long period of time and the scouting staff have obviously changed many times over that period, plus the style of hockey has changed so not only are teams looking for different things each year but a team's direct needs due to player development, trades, retirements, signings, etc affect drafting as well as management and coaching staff. but really. maybe one or two years here and there you pick a guy that just tanks out for whatever reason (family, career change, injury, not mentally tough enough, over-estimated their value, etc) but we have such a bad list.

btw, anyone who thinks a big trade will happen anytime soon is in for a surprise. everyone keeps calling for a move, but there's no cap space to make a move. the two things I can possibly see happening this year is

A. the coaches and GM can talk the owners into paying off salary to send guys to the minors (ie bulis/chouinard). by paying off their nhl salary we can waive them to the minors and free that space. by you're asking brand new owners to dip into their own personal pockets to pay millions of dollars (granted 'they' say teams can earn up to $1m approx. per playoff game in revenue from various sources so even waiving one player to try to free space to make a move to get us into the playoffs could work out).

B. we find someone desperate enough to take someone off our hands (ie pushing for playoffs - depth - or a rebuilding team) for picks. most teams heading for the playoffs already have that depth and don't want overpaid 3rd-4th liners.. while teams in rebuilding don't want overpaid players taking up ice time from their developping youth, so again we're stuck.

There is a
C. We trade salary for salary (but who the hell wants our rejects/underachivers for an achiever?). some rumorered morrison and cooke and a prospect/pick to philly for forsberg, but why would any team want both of those guys? i can see some teams wanting cooke's energy and grit for 1.5... MAYBE.. but morrison is stuck here unless you can find a buyer (ottawa, atlanta, chicago and philly have all been rumored all year because all could use a setup man but morrison sucks).

Posted by Fl1p on Dec-06-2006 00:02:

We definately need more offense, when was the last time we scored more than 2 goals? We're last in scoring for crying out load... The only line that can produce right now is the Sedins-Naslund line, lord know what's going happen to our team when one of them gets injured or Luongo gets injured...

I'll put much of the blame to Nonis, lots of bad signing and managing our salary cap. I have no idea why we didnt re-sign Burke in the first place...

Things are not looking too good for the Canucks right now, when you look at the standing it doesnt look too bad... the NW Division is pretty tight but Calgary and Colorado has a few games in hand and we also can't win against our divisional opponent and if we continue our scoring slumps there's no way we're going to make the playoff. We need some changes fast!

Anyway make sure you guys vote RORY FITPATRICK! This goal by him should motivate you to vote!

Remember you can vote as many times as you want!

sign bondra, trade bulis to st louis for a prospect and waive chouinard until the playoffs when we might need his face off skills.

sign bondra to $700 plus incentives.

put naslund, bondra and mo together, and put anyone with the twins until pyatt comes back.

some say they should sign allison. both are old, both are injury prone, and although alison put up almost a pt per game pace with toronto last year, there's obv. a reason why no one wants him, not even calgary or ottawa or any other centerman desperate team, he's SLOW and he's injury prone. bondra hasn't been signed b/c he wants too much to play anywhere but washington.

and this rory thing is really retarded. why should we let a bum like him make it over guys who have more talent and have put in more effort this season than him? pffff this thing is getting way out of hand. even though this thing was started by a guy in new york who was a fan of him when he was in buffalo, everyone who is or isn't a canuck fan thinks this is all about 'dumb canuck fans being dumber than normal'. then again maybe stunts like this will smarten up bett-tard-man and he'll pull the online fan voting/balloting that is pretty much leaves it open for stuff like this. i almost like the old way when there were fewer teams and every gm/coach picked their best player to go and the remaining slots were filled by the next best players.

Malik was definitely not brought in as a physical defenceman. Last night's game reminded me of the Canucks of a few years past. Outscoring an opponent to win! Good to see but i'm sure it'll be back to 2 goals a game for the next 5
