-- Why am I the only Picotto-zombie???

Posted by trancaholic on Nov-25-2000 02:45:

Just got back from doing some statistics on the "Trance/Club track that everyone MUST HAVE :-)"-discussion (yes, I *do* need a life), and found out that over 15% of all the tracks that was suggested as being indispensable was (partly) produced by "the modern Mozart" Mauro Picotto.
Then the big question is: Why am I the only one that keep praising him in these topics, where Tiesto, Armin van Buuren and Vincent De Moor appearently seem to rule the popular vote????

I don't know... Maybe we just have alot of holland natives frequent here to promote their exports?

Or perhaps, there isn't that much exposure of Mauro and co.. I still haven't found a live mix set yet, anyone? DJs that occasionally produce are more famous than producers who occasionally dj. So it seems.

yur not alone....picotto iz my fave..

Haha.... I like Tiesto doesn't mean I don't regard Picotto as my fav. He is my fav producer, continuosly producing excellent quality, hard pounding Trance/ Techno (whatever you call it...) totally creating a trademark out of its own...
I even got the Picotto LP as my B-day present from my bro. How good does it gets??!! LOL

Picotto is definately one of my favourite producers...

For all you guys who love Picotto should check out DJ Networx. He's got a new CD out and please try to locate it, listen to the tracks......

Cheers

Hehe, I was joking, Doombringer.. but yeah, so does anyone have a live mix or something longer than a track by Mauro? Does such a beast exist?

Oh, with a name like Doombringer, shouldn't you be kicking holes in the speakers at Rotterdam Thunderdome or something? hahaha j/k.

I think the reason Picotto doesnt get the props van buuren and tiesto do is because he's not a "formulaic" trance dj, as was most extensively discussed in the "everybody loves tiesto" topic. His style is differrent which is why people shy away from naming him as a trance dj, because in all reality he is not. This of course only makes him BETTER!! its so refreshing to hear someone do something differrent!!! Like the bassline on CRW - I feel love (RAF zone mix) is just so frikkin awesome, i just wanna dance my ass off when i hear that, and i just havent heard anything so innovative from any of the formulaic trance dj's in a long long long time, ya know?? Picotto is GOD.
peace,

Hmmmmm ... I definetely like Picotto's style. The songs he produces are amazing and I like that harder sound to dance to sometimes. But has anybody noticed that in many of his live appearances, his sets are very similar? Most big name dj's seem to be doing that nowadays, playing the songs that they produce and a few other big tracks. If you ask me, teisto is still the god of trance and ferry corsten is the pope. Tiesto at samfundet trondheim is utterly rediculous

Picotto rules man....
Ive seen him at Holltwood, Rotterdam and he really rocked the place. But he isnt as famous as tiesto by far because he doesnt spin very often...Definitly not in Holland. i asked him and he said that Hollywood was the first club he ever spinned in, in Holland

Thanks for restoring my faith in mankind. I think the reason why we don't get the chance to see the man very often, is because he is a father and as such prefer to stay near home in Italy. But I heard somewhere that he is a regular at Imperiale, anyone from Italy who can confirm this?
