Bellydancing in Toronto

Just wondering if anyone here could reccommend good bellydancing studios here in Toronto. I'm more interested in pursuing the tribal side of bellydancing

there is a bellydancing school at the corner of gloschester street and yonge street in toronto - just above the coffee time on the south/east corner! i have never been, but it has a sign "the best belly dancing school in Toronto!" in the window! there is also a belly dancing bar/lounge/resturant on college, that gives you lessons! i just have no idea where, somewhere in lil' italy!

have fun!

There's City Dance Corps on King St. W. that has some BD classes, and a belly dancing school on Danforth 1 block west of Pape.

Posted by Misanthrope on Dec-01-2006 04:31:

thankyou, my teacher won various awards and competitions and never once mentioned anything about a bellydancer balancing a book or candlestick on her head while she dances.

It's aboutlearning to control your body and expressing the music through it....not how well you can balance a book on your head

Yes women used this during pregnancy to help alleviate pains and make childbirth easier...by learning to control certain muscles in your body.

no shit. well sweetheart you are wasting your money on your stupid belly dancing classes. that's not my point. My point is that woman HAS NO GRACE. I was trying to explain the point that other women who can balance heavy things on their head ANNNNNDDDDD belly dance do a better job than her.

Posted by Frenchie on Dec-01-2006 04:36:

I think it's fascinating. The way the body move in perfect, "S" shapes is amazing. Can't wait to one day see you do it Kelly.

wasting my money? have you ever seen me dance? just because i found something to be interesting doesn't mean i dance likt that. I don't see you moving your body in the ways she does and expressing an instrument through movements in her body like she does.

There's different types of bellydancing, and this is just one of the many. This dance has evolved over thousands of years so noone has the right to say "what is bellydancing".
