winter sports

Hey guys,

Winter is coming....do you guys practice any winter sports or you just stay low in sporting for the winter season and prefer to stay home and be on the computer or watch telly?

This winter, I wanna start cross-country skiing...I don't know if it's the good term in English but it's really good for cardio and enjoying nature....I will probably play some hockey too and stuff....

I just hope the weather doesn't allow a lot of storms..winter w/o storms is very coool!

so what are you guys gonna do this winter??

this winter, i'm going to be basking in the southern sun of louisiana....far away from all that shitty ass snow up north. sorry lucid, but i can't stand that stuff anymore. it was fun when i was a kid, but now, i'm just like, "fuck that".

lol... today was the perfect day for snow though! it's really cold, it's before Christmas, it's the first day of December... so i dunno, i'm happy that there's snow all over the ground! i haven't had a white Christmas in a while, these last few winters have been weaksauce in Wisconsin.

it's the snow in Jan/Feb/March that i hate.

well, yeah...it's just that....for me...if you try to find an activity you like involving snow and stuff...winter goes on very fast..it's just that if you tell yourself winter sucks - It does..but when you are busy doing something it doesn't suck as much.....but yeah let's say I wouldn't mind basking in the southern sun of louisiana either..

LOL, that made me laugh....HARD.

one thing i do miss / or will miss about winter, is the snow antics. driving down welch ave going to class and seeing all the college homes with huge 6' dildos on the front lawn. or the snow boulders that were like 10' in circumference being put in the road to block traffic and watching the cops trying to push them w/ their cars.

yeah, the first snow was always a good time, i suppose. but yeah, that jan-march shit always overweighed in suck compared to one good fun time in december.

where is sainte-anne in CAN? by calgary i suppose? the only thing i know in the east for canada is tremblant

my canadian trip next year is Whistler Vancouver, that's top priority for me at this point.
This season I have:

Mt Hood Meadows - Oregon - Jan 5
Lake Tahoe - Reno - Mar 2-10

Few trips to Vermont and possibly a weekend out in Breckenridge Colorado.

Posted by Zeiter on Dec-01-2006 16:27:

mont st-anne and le massif are near Qubec city...2 hours north of Montreal....well massif is about 1 hour from here....so from nyc..it would take you like maybe a 10 hours drive to come to Quebec city...

so in relation to tremblant, what's a better alternative?

tremblant or sainte-anne or are they in the same line of mountain ranges and are easy to get to both in 1 trip? I seriously don't mind wrapping up a party weekend in montreal then doing 3-4days up north for some snow

well, tremblant is much more expensive in terms of prices for hotel and everything..ive never been to tremblant but the view you'll get if you go to massif is wow..amazing man...u just can't describe how it's so beautiful and st-anne well man, it's big...maybe not as big as tremblant..but i guess if u wanna feel something high, go to the massif for sure, you won't regret it man

Posted by EarnYourKeep on Dec-01-2006 16:49:

i just checked massif's website - it looks real nice, but i'm not sure i'd want to drive that from NY, looks like flying would be easier and renting a car there-after.

if i could do this trip in 5 days over a long weekend for cheap then i'd sacrifice the days, other wise i personally prefer to do Whistler and Colorado for extended time.

Tahoe for 9 days is going to be insane!

yah you could..flights qc city - nyc aren't expensive @ all depends how cheap you want it to be...

drunken mattress sledding...chyeaaaa

my new apartment has a pretty sweet roof that we're going to christen with some snow tubes into plow piles. that's how we do it up in new england.

lol our winter pretty much lasts nov-april. you gotta occupy yourself somehow...and hitting the mountain gets DAMN EXPENSIVE.

thats funny, my friend who we took to the hospital broke his forearm cuz we all piled onto a car hood and sledded down this huge hill. basically we played - who can stay on the longest - cuz at the bottom of the hill there was this 8ft drop into some pow.

the lady at the hospital doing the xray said to us - car hood? that's a first. needless to say after returning from the hospital we went back only to find other kids using the car hood we found for a similar stunt...degenerates!
