Cass & Slide - perception --> HOW brilliant is this track

I listened to ISOS2 again and BAM, just blew me away again, its still one big MasterPiece!!!

Awsome vocals, awsome tune awsome track!

100% sheer beauty.That's what that track is.Especially those synths in the first breakdown...WOW!!!!!!!

This tune is so hypnotic, I loved the original when heard it first time on 1999 and vocal mix is just luminous too. I've heard some rumours that Sasha has something to do with this song also, any information about this?
Perception lovers should check Avatar's Machine life (Altenator remix), very similar tune released 2000, probably same producers behind it...

I think the instrumental version is done up by Sasha.

i think this is, i dare say, the BEST trance song in existence. it has everything - from hypnotic vocals to progressive beats. its awesome how the vocal mix goes from prog to epic vocals without missing a beat - most tracks cant come close...late/

I can't believe how many of you love the vocals. They totally ruin the tune. They are there in a sort of Who Do You Love Now? way so that the cheese lovers don't get bored....

I think the original is a superb track. But those vocals....why God, why?????????

I disagree, Perception vocals aren't half as cheesy as vocals in Who do you Love know (which truly sucks). I also prefer the original over vocal mix but those are still great vocals and doesn't bother me at all but hey, nothing can beat the original version .

The vocals can be cheesy, but i've been plenty guilty of liking cheese.

Either way, the song is blinding (with and without vocals).

One of my top 10 of all time...

THis is not one of those rave songs to make u sweaty this is mind blowing song to chill to..
I Love both original and Vocal but to say its cheesy...
Iio Rapture is the real cheese which many djs use these days.
THe vocals are written by sasha so if u think this is cheesy YOu are saying that sasha is a cheese maker.

yeah id have to disagree on thhe cheese factor. just cause it HAS vocals doesnt make it cheesy. thhis isnt Tocas Miracle remember. i think the vocals are beautiful, well written and take you on a journey. most trance vocals sound good but dont mean anything - these elevate you higher. plus like i said - the first part is awesome prog, and then it switched to epic vocals, the best of both worlds! late/

I think the vocals do add a large slab of cheese to the track.
The reason I used Who Do You Love Now? as my example is because it is in a very similar situation. Riva's Stringer was a really good track, but when those God awful vocals got plumped on top, it was there soley for making money and it was soooooooooooo cheesey (hell, still is cos its never off the radio).
Perception was a perfect track I think. A true classic. But the added vocals ruin it for 2 reasons:
1) They add nothing to the track. They are just there for the people who can't have a song they can't sing along to (and I don't mean people who only like music with singing, but Perception doesn't have a big melody you go around singing.)
2) Whenever I listen to the original which I loved, I start to sing the vocals in my head, and it takes away the enjoyment.

Don't get me wrong, I am a big lover tracks with vocals. For example, I love:
Starecase - Faith (Loafer Mix)
Slam ft Tyrone 'Visionary' Palmer - Lifetimes (Original Mix)
Ernesto vs Bastian - Lonely People (Mix 1)

But in those the vocals add something. In Perception the vocals only detract
Which is a sad think.....

Also, I suspect that most people who like the vocal mix probably didn't really enjoy the original too much....


One more thing: I was surprised when Nucleogenesis said Perception was a "mind blowing song to chill to". For me, this is the sort of song I would (or would have) gone mental on a dance floor to. It packs so much energy, but in a deceptive way. I wouldn't be surprised if a few peoples heads exploded while dancing to it

Nice writing mate but I've one short answer to that all

THE VOCAL IS AWSOME no matter who you are or what you say!!!!

and starecase - faith (loafer remix) is Awsome to indeed

Well it's just different tastes. And there is no way a discussion can change what someone likes.
I'm sure there are many people who will say that the vocals for Who Do You Love Now? are awesome too, but I certainly, and hopefuly you too wouldn't agree.

A lot of people who like progressive music look down on people who like more cheesy songs. I think that is pathetic, I can understand why so many people prefer it with vocals....
This has turned into a bit of an argument, but there is no right or wrong....
I suppose we need to leave it that not everyone likes the same things

And the stringer -> It was a nice track but the vocals killed it yeah

I reccon that song rules mad vocals with nice build up, if anyone knows any other songs like it plz tell me =)

The instrumental version is the original I believe. And no, it was not produced by Sasha...according to the credits it was written and produced by Pete Martin & Cass Cutbrush.

Yea, Cass & Slide are the only producers behind Perception. I thought Sasha maybe was part of the process somehow but it seems that Cass & Slide actually wrote the track especially for Sasha, somekind of tribute to him probably.
