2006-07 NCAA Basketball Thread

Haven't seen anything for hoops yet, so I'll start something...

First off, just Division III, but check out this score-
Lincoln Univ beat Ohio State-Marion, 201-78!

Very up and down start for my Jayhawks. Lose at home early on, then come back and beat Florida and then lose again today to DePaul... not defending the 3s are killing us so far.

Greg Oden played his first game on Saturday, and puts up 15 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 blocks. Impressive start for the frosh. However, if he wants to progress at a better state in the pros, he needs to work on those free throws.

my explanation for this...
D-III basketball is like NBA Jam, There are hot spots on the floor that double and triple your points and shit.

Also, you can catch on fire and dunk from half court.

but yeah I wonder if D-III basketball uses the BCS system? The BCS takes into account point differential as you all know.

nah D-III uses a blind voting system to place teams by blind folding the ball thrower and tell him to throw the ball at some random sign, and the first sign that is hit will be ranked #1.

Go Pac-10! Representing this year. UCLA #1 at the moment, Washington #8, and my Oregon Ducks at 6-0 with a sweet victory on the road against Georgetown (although who hasn't beaten G Town already).

West side west side

Any bets on when 0-21 Iona College (which made the Big Dance last year) will finally win a game?
Or will they even win a game?

Posted by LeopoldStotch on Feb-02-2007 03:26:

wtf with kevin durant. 37 points 23 rebounds, and the game didn't go to overtime. he outscored his opponent team 24 to 22 in the second half. this guy certainly is impresssing me right now.

durant is a baller for sure, but there are two other big 12 teams making a name for themselves right now, kansas and texas a&m. wow what a showtime game last night. like i said in the other thread, acie law iv can ball for sure. he is the new age derek fisher, but with skills. he will score points here and there, but when the chips are down, and money is on the line, he will make the big shots.

fuck the other conferences. how about one big tournament between the big 12, acc, sec, big east, and big 10. all the teams just duke it out for the sake of it.

Pac 10 is considered the best conference by practically everybody this year but thanks for leaving them out.

Durant >>>> Oden. Oden looks overrated to me. Defensive stopper yes but all around changing the game talent? Not so sure. We'll have to see once he regains movement in his right hand.

Durant looks like the next McGrady with a better jumper and without the 89 year old man's back. If I had the #1 pick, it would take me .0001 secs to select Durant.

sorry forgot the pac 10. put them in the list too. oregon is playing some good ball as of late (well not the last 2 games. they stunk it up), ucla is solid this year, and i expect usc to make a big splash next year when o.j. mayo comes abroad. wazzu is a constant, but i think i keep leaving the pac 10 out, because arizona's sketchy play. sometimes they want to play, and other times they lie dead as a door nail.

AT UCLA and AT USC. Top 5 team and another really good team. Not sure that qualifies as stinking it up. I thought they would lose those games, the Pac 10 is that tough this year.

Iona finally wins a game! They beat Rider (which is near my hometown ), 69-57, to improve to 1-22
