The central characteristic of goatrance is the influence of indian, or eastern in general, music. Those influences are not reflected much in the instrumentation, since trance is electronic, but in the musical scales on which the melodies are based. All melodies do not sound explicitly eastern but in some way they sound exotic compared to non-goa trance.

During the history of goa trance there was also a certain sound that evolved and was adopted by many producers, goa had it's own palette of electronic instruments/sounds and techniques, the sound of the TB-303 or sound-alikes shaped in a particular way etc. But these are things you have to hear first, it's hard to explain what somethings sounds like to someone that has not heard it. Furthermore they can appear as very subtle to an unexperienced listener and are not equally prominent in all goa trance productions.

Examples:

Man With No Name - Teleport
Doof - Let's Turn On
Pleiadians - Electra
Human Blue - Breaking Limits
MFG - Overload

it's got a natural feel, while psytrance has a more mechanical feel.

Does it have any root in ancient indian rituals?Any body?Any one?

Think it has more roots in taking an assload of drugs more than anything else
Sphongle make some good stuff if youre looking for a 'world music' type of feel.

I find Goa is more organic type sounding with much more 303 type sounds where as psytrance sounds all chaotic and machanically made.

I think Astral Projection is goa, go check them out.
