m-audio or e-mu?
hi!
i'm setting up a small studio/daw and i'm not sure about the pci interface.. should i go with M-Audio Audiophile 192 or E-MU 1212M. the price is almost the same and i know that E-MU has the better AD converters, but what about the drivers? i would mostly use it for monitoring and some occasional recordings of random audio (vinyl etc).
i'm 97% sure i will get a AMD 64 X2 4200+ because my budget isn't big enough for a Core 2 Duo system. or would you recomend intel? i also heard that E-MU had some problems with AMD? i'm confused please help..
thanks
well considering we answer this question every other day.. i would search.
for me emu drivers suck big times. had many problems and they are very seldomly updated.
i went with the e-mu... it works very nicely although I'm having trouble with a lot of my system resources being used... haven't really investigated yet whether that is due to poor card drivers or something else on my computer.
i have an emu 1212m. -but i have never tried anything by m-audio.
right now, i'm doing fine w/it. i have used it on 2 different amd systems, my old comp, and now this one. so far no problems w/stability or anything. the card has worked well when recording mixes. and now i have it hooked up to my surround system reciever, just to listen to music.
i'm still not using the card or it's intended purpose... for writing music, but i'm getting there. i'm confident that the card/drivers will hold up fine.
It's a good question, but there've been other threads posted fairly recently comparing these exact two products, so I'd suggest using the search.
