Starting out and buying vinyls

So how do you all start buying vinyl? I know it's as simple as knowing what songs you like and buying them but am I the only one who wants to have a decent foundation for a collection (and build on it)?

Or just pick what you like and buy!

Pick what you want and buy.... Don't go out picking up vinyls just to build a collection.. imo it's always more enjoyable to mix songs that I actually like listening to. Plus later on you'll find yourself looking at a bunch of records sitting around collecting dust.. They cost alot of money also..

not to mention the fact that it's somewhat hard to sell them lately because everyone's doing it.
