CNET Senior editor

He went with his family out to eat, got trapped in a snowy road, then walked to get help after waiting for 2 days with no result. His family was rescued after several days, he was found just a bit ago. Several volunteers were following his trail, which included scaling cliffs and swimming through a stream in 20F

He probably couldn't find the road. There was snow everywhere, I think.

I guess what I heard on the news here (could be true, could be untrue), is that he waited with his wife and two children in the car for several days. No help came. He finally left to try to get help...

They had used all the fuel trying to stay warm, no food, and were burning the tires for heat. He was desperate. He made his wife and little girls stay in the vehicle and he went for help. Maybe he was disoriented? I dunno...

It's a sad story.
