Posted by Heidi_Fleiss on Dec-07-2006 10:39:

lol!

Same applies for these 'wannabes' attempting to run their own nights...

Posted by pkcRAISTLIN on Dec-07-2006 11:11:

i just think its funny that someone that likes edm, hangs out on an edm website, goes to his fair share of edm parties- complains that he experiences too many wannabe DJs

its kinds like going to maccas and complaining about the fat chicks you see stuffing huge handfuls of lard into their chubby faces.

Posted by Slade on Dec-07-2006 11:19:

Blame TV rock.

Posted by Renegade on Dec-07-2006 13:44:

Think about how many EDM nights there are in Melbourne on any given weekend and then think about how many DJs are needed to fill all the available spots. They can't all be superstar DJs, but someone has to fill the demand. If you think there are too many mediocre DJs out there at the moment, then blame the undiscerning punters who pay their wages, not the DJs themselves.

Besides, in my experience, so long as you pick the right nights, the talent separating the "wannabe" DJs from the established DJs is usually marginal at best. If you're getting a gig in a club and manage to pull a crowd, then chances are you must have some clue about what you're doing...

Posted by Anomyst on Dec-07-2006 22:07:

lol why the sudden outburst?

with the amount of trash ive heard couldnt agree more dude!
especially in the house scene its terrible i think thats
where the majority of sh*t comes from mate.

Posted by Paulie on Dec-07-2006 22:41:

Im not here to have a go at anyone in particular on this site contrary to what some of you may believe. Also my opinion doesnt matter but being a typical male i like to air it...

Dean, for me its lost that romance it used to have. Sure a dj was always just a person who played tunes, but there used to be a real buzz when you knew someone was going to jump on the decks and play their OWN style. Owning your own decks wasnt a fashion accessory like it is now. It was a passion, a desire. With the increase of digital technology and the ability to share music all over the world, i find that the originality and uniqueness of each dj has slowly disintegrated and with that was born the bedroom DJ, in which we are being flooded with.

Sure some of you may argue that it is a passion, but i will argue in 5 years time will you still be djing and will your decks not be tucked away in the corner?

You're on fire
I hear you loud and clear, re.
Everything has become a bit too overrated these days.
Where has the magic and glory days gone?

Posted by Teflon_Teapot on Dec-07-2006 23:13:

your not serious about saying will e tell is underrated, most people that know anything about melbourne edm will pay homage to him and talk about just how awesome he is. back in the day hundreds of people would go to a night just to see him play. in terms of melbourne djs he is right at the top of the pile. you are talking to the wrong people if you reckon he is underrated.
