Sasha is amazing
I never really liked Sasha up until recently. THis year, I have listened to many of his sets, and I am just blown away by some of the tracks he plays. They are so original and sound so amazing.
Global DJ Broadcast w/ Markus Schulz & Sasha (12-07-06)
http://www.tranceaddict.com/forums/...6&pagenumber=11
These two tracks were just amazing:
John Acquaviva pres. Swen Weber - First Stroke
John Acquaviva pres. Swen Weber - First Stroke (Scratch Massive Mix)
ANother thing that really impresses me is how he mixes his tracks. If you listen to the beginning of the set, then fastword to the middle, then the end, it all sounds like the same track. I have only heard a couple djs do that. Pretty amazing, and the mixing is the best I have ever heard and flawless.
What are the best known Sasha sets (1997-2006) that can be downloaded?
Yep, listening right now and every little sound he throws in whether it be a sample or whatever he does with abletron, is harmonicly placed in key, very nice on the ears.
However i couldn't stand to hear more than an hour of "one long song" type sets, call me boring but i like frequent changes in energy, whether it be progressive, house, or trance.

they got everything pretty much
I think this year was Sasha's worst.
1989-2001 > Sasha setting trends.
2002-2006 > Sasha following them.
Anything before 2001 basically. I am particularly fond of the Gatecrasher NYE set, 31-12-99 - for sentimental reasons. Get that first, follwed by Zen After Party (Miami, United States) June 1996. ![]()

which trend was he following when he started using Ableton? For those who don't know, he used Ableton for his Involver project (among other tools) so if anything he set a new trend for people to use Ableton to DJ and have fun with music, which is what he's doing now.
Stop living in the past ffs.
btw, get his 30 min set from the yacht party.. too much fun.

You guys are too rough on him, Sasha will set the trends again once he's fully mastered his new set-up, Ableton is the change he needed to bring around a new Era, and he will do it Im sure of it!
This dude has been Djing since the 80s, he'll continue pwnzing, trust me.

Originally posted by Clovis IMO its not really a question of him setting trends or following them...because as of now, he is not following any...he plays the music he wants, exactly how he wants...and thats that. Some people will always love it, and some people will invariably not, but in the end I think hes pretty true to himself. You are right about ableton, and I think he is still far from using it perfectly, but he is getting close. If you guys (and I know Alex read it) read Blake Jarrel's report on Sasha ableton setup, you will see that he has it tailored to his needs and his team are getting closer and closer to a setup that really allows him to do exactly what he wants. In light of the above I'd like to state for the record that yes I am a complete nerd and I think about Sasha's manner of performing way too much...

Originally posted by RJT +many to all of that. If I ever won the lottery, the first thing I'd do is hire like 5 music/tech geeks to help me build a setup that did EXACTLY what I wanted it to, without being excessive.

Originally posted by Clovis For an idea, check the Dortmund set. He wants absolutely seamless, smooth mixing, and he acheives that consistently with his ableton setup. He wants the ability to put tracks together the way he sees fit, instead of having to make the tracks work with each other as they are. If you read reviews of good sasha sets, you'll hear alot of people say that the set is more like one big long ride, than a bunch of tracks played one after the other, and I think that is what he wants.
