R-E-M-I-X!!! (new contest)

Yo guys!
just woke up and saw this in my mail box - http://contest.moby.com/
bah...the usuall some of the parts are being sold...but I'm just checking the free ones... to be honest I'm only wanting the acapella...and maybe a loop to cut. but now I see that they are for sale as well... I hate it when they do that... oh well... to the people who still one to remix it - good luck!

The synth and bass only?

Useless...

Posted by 3rd Signal on Dec-08-2006 10:11:

True...their policy annoys me...they always do that...

Posted by thecYrus on Dec-08-2006 10:41:

even the vocals are not free, very bad move from beatport

Posted by Mr.Mystery on Dec-08-2006 10:43:

Ridiculous.

Posted by 3rd Signal on Dec-08-2006 11:49:

anybody care to take a mic and shout "GO" & "Yeahhhhhh" to it? we might be able to save Beatport some money by helping them out.

Posted by Pjotr G on Dec-08-2006 12:33:

sample them from the original track

Posted by aquila on Dec-08-2006 13:54:

how shit is that!

Posted by S-Tune on Dec-08-2006 14:20:

WHY should i pay for a remixcontest and WHY is it only for US residents?

Sponsered by Bush to keep the evil music out?

Posted by Craig Bradley on Dec-08-2006 14:25:

Doesn't make any sense does it.. as if moby doesn't have enough money anyway.

Posted by System101 on Dec-08-2006 14:40:

go is one of my favourite all time tracks.. moby is just amazing, so i'm gonna have to enter this contest!

Yeah I think I'm in on this one too. What's strange is that they have the Main Synth and Bass available for free on the Free Remix stems page, but on the page with all the samples, the Main Synth and Bass there are $1.99. So make sure you get the Main Synth and Bass for free and if you want the rest of the parts too, just don't pick those on the page where the other parts are.

or better buy everything so it's only $5 instead of $2 for each single file..

Or wait for someone else to pay for them and get it from them. It's one thing to scam people to get free remixes with these "competitions" but charging for the parts is just fucking arrogant.

Posted by Zombie0729 on Dec-08-2006 19:40:

why don't we just do a group buy, all of us pay for 1 part and just share it. SOLUTION

Posted by ASFSE on Dec-08-2006 21:16:

anyone buy the parts? upload plz!

Posted by Limit on Dec-08-2006 22:29:

since its only US residents only...then screw them...just sample them off the site by recording audio from your computer. The sample quality is the same I'm sure.

i dont condone this...but hey US only...that sucks.

I've only done one remix contest, and I never even sent in my entry. A remix contest is a promotion, not a money making scheme, damn! I can't even believe this, charging for the vocals tracks and all that. So you pay for the parts, then you don't win, and you can't even legaly release your remix, that's really lame. For U.S. residents only, hehe. What are they, retared? By "they", I mean beatport and Moby. If Moby would of had any integrity, he would have said no to this remix contest. Boycott all these remix contests that make you pay for vocal tracks, ect.

I was quite disappointed when I heard about this contest. Moby had always struck me as an artist with a bit of integrity. If beatport had come to me with this kind of idea, I'd have told them to shove it up their asses. Respect to Moby, but this is bullshit.

Moby is known as a pure "sell-out" musician.

He has peddled his music, and makes such variant styles, from the very beginning for use in all manner of things, from commercials to events etc.

That's not to say he's not a good musician; he is.

well shit, way to go Moby.....I guess its bad to want to make money from your music and do it for the rest of your life...and not have to work at shitty jobs like mine...hmmm I guess he's an idiot.

Spanning different types of music is really stupid too....you dont want to be open minded.

Honestly I think he has done a great job with staying power...but I think the last time I actually really liked one of his tunes was back in 95' with "Every Time You You Touch Me". That was a bad ass tune back in the day.

I see a great difference between this and picking up certain styles for the sake of selling to a commercial. At least then you're getting money for substanceless music from slimy advertisers. The participants of this contest are not advertisers, they're normal people who could be spending their five bucks on a gallon of milk. Now they're spending that money to do work that they'll only get minimal credit for, at best.
