Working Class Hero
by John Lennon
As soon as you're born they make you feel small
By giving you no time instead of it all
Till the pain is so big you feel nothing at all
A working class hero is something to be
A working class hero is something to be

They hurt you at home and they hit you at school
They hate you if you're clever and they despise a fool
Till you're so fucking crazy you can't follow their rules
A working class hero is something to be
A working class hero is something to be

When they've tortured and scared you for twenty odd years
Then they expect you to pick a career
When you can't really function you're so full of fear
A working class hero is something to be
A working class hero is something to be

Keep you doped with religion and sex and TV
And you think you're so clever and class less and free
But you're still fucking peasants as far as I can see
A working class hero is something to be
A working class hero is something to be

There's room at the top they are telling you still
But first you must learn how to smile as you kill
If you want to be like the folks on the hill
A working class hero is something to be
A working class hero is something to be
If you want to be a hero well just follow me
If you want to be a hero well just follow me

My favorit communist! Thanks for making Marx popular in the west.

someone who did a lot for music, much more than "superstar" djs but who a lot of people won't know simply due to ignorance. One quarter of liverpool's legendary band, the beatles

You don't belong on this site. You don't deserve to live.

I'd hope everyone at least could say "oh yeah, isn't that the beatles guy" and have some recognition.

Nothing IMO tops "Imagine"...it's such a simple song with a simple message yet I really believe if everyone listened to it and followed the message the world would be such a better place.

Given that the poster is posting on an English language site, in English, and lives in New York I think it's safe to assume he speaks English.

probably in guatemala.. my grandparents wont know who he is.. and i assume most wont.. my parents do but im shure half of them wont since most poeple dont speak english...

i am sure a 5 year old from mozambique probably wont know the difference between John Lennon and George Bush. It is safe to assume that most English speaking and developed nations know who john lennon is, or at least have heard about the beatles. I think I even heard about Lennon before Pearl Harbor for example.

Thumbs up

As soon as I saw the date for the title of this thread, I knew that it was about John Lennon.

Thanks to my mother, I was born and raised and love John Lennon and The Beatles. Lennon has done so much for music and is truly someone you can thank. It is too bad his life was taken so soon.

good post.
