1, 3, and New Nightmare are the only ones worth watching. The rest of them were at about the same level as...well, the entire Friday the 13th series.
Interesting fact: yeah, Depp was in the first one. He got pulled into his bed towards the end and a fountain of blood came up, it was really gross. When the time came around for Craven to make Wes Craven's New Nightmare, Depp was a huge celebrity and Craven was too afraid (hah, get it - Craven was afraid? snork, snork) to ask him to fill a cameo role in it. At a party they met at some time later, Craven found the gusto to ask Depp if he would have made an appearance - Depp said we would have done so gladly. Just goes to show - it's better to ask and be turned down than to never ask at all.

ugh. those movies haunted me as a child, and they still kind of disturb me now.

i had the whole series except for the 5th film. loved 3 & 4 the most. haven't seen the 5th since i was 5 or 6 years old, only things i remember from it are that one killing where a guy is riding a motorcycle and the motorcycle infuses with him or something, and a major scene where people are browsing through kruger's brain.
