Sander van Doorn - Grasshopper

wow, this is a good one.

sander trying to work up all the minimal- and tech-impressions which the trance scene got in 2006 (*cough* domino and so on), combined with a little bit of well-known svd sounds.. works really fine.

he is regularly coming up with really new stuff. great producer, great track

SVD does minimal techno. Pure unadulterated shite. If this is the way he is going production wise and maybe djing wuse then hes going even further down my estimations. Was amazing 2 years ago but has steadly went down from those dizzy heights

ok then many people (tortoise and me included) do like shit...

your judging could be a bit more objective

werd svd is the best techno producer

Whats this new garbage they call music? SVD sucking for even more! I mean his tech tunes are bad why go even worse? Stay with trance idiot!

Posted by shaminii on Dec-11-2006 04:58:

I'm not digging this tune too much either. Maybe I just need to let it sink in to me.

Nothing special but it's still OK.

please wait for the other mix.. it;s more melodic

my first thought at hearing this was "James Holden wannabe". It's a good track and I really like it. Simple but like everything SVD does, sounds very crisp and well produced

agreed, and im a big SVD follower. Can't wait for some more bang'n tunes from him in the future.

Posted by Dj_Es-Dva on Dec-12-2006 03:28:

It was bound to happen, its rather tripe, not very well made and just has some very simple minimal techno elements. but if sander keeps at it, he could probably make something decent...

Posted by sigmanova on Dec-12-2006 03:37:

easily forgettable track. i feel SvD did much better doing what he was doing before, even if it eventually became formulaic.

Posted by kern802 on Dec-12-2006 05:52:

It works better when it's in the middle of a bangin' set, such as his Identity Mix November 2006.

Weakest tune I've heard from him IMO.

I'm not a big SVD fan - I'm not a fan at all actually, but I gave this one a shot, just as I have all his other productions, and was perhaps more disappointed than I've ever been by any of his tunes.

It sounded like it had some potential, the build between 2 and 3 minutes was nice, but when it just drops out like it does around 3:00 there's just a feeling of no real payoff what-so-ever. Basically for all the good elements of the track, the sequencing and complete lack of direction left me irritated that I'd wasted the 6 or so minutes it took to get through the 3 builds that went no where.

The "James Holden Wannabe" comment seems apt.

Color me shocked at that.

This is a good start if this is the direction he wants to take, but when you compare it to people who have created this kind of music for a long time, it's not even in the same league. Its an okay tune, I don't think it sucks. But it is definitely a tune I would quickly pass knowing there is much more better while browsing for music.

This crap is meh. I hate it.

yeah but this is the only way that armin is gonna play stuff like this on asot. when one of the bigger producers starts to try something new.

Armin shouldn't be playing "stuff like this" on ASOT. Period.
