Smoking ..umm..something Review: Chris Liberator at The Big Bop

Arrived solo to this and only say 4 other TAs there, Jason (conso_sur) and Mona, Rob (Blipvert) and Andi (andielips)

GREAT. FUCKING. PARTY!

Will write more details and of a review tomrrow. SO TIRED RIGHT NOW.

Just gotta say though, techno girls are the officially hottest fucking EDM chicks EVER! HOLY SHIT I was blown away at the Liberator party! Only 200 maybe (?) and ive not even ever seen that many hot girls are Guv or KH before on a night! Seriously.

Top notch shit. These techno chicks are so bloody hot. I want one!

Wasn't really feeling it too much until about 12:30-1-ish as anticipation grew for Liberator. And wow...he killed it. He was really enjoying himself up there as well.

The place was nicely packed with plenty of room to dance. Friendly crowd as well. It felt like an old-skool rave.

Nice seeing Jamie and meeting for the first time Mona (misanthrope) and Rob (blipvert). Can't wait to see the pics.

Yes - techno chicks are hawt.

Peace.

Sneaker Pimp

had a good time. it sucks not being able to dance for another few weeks. damn shoulder/ribs.

got there at 11:30, just as Ken Finch and Jezbone were going on. mmm to 4 Deck fun. they weren't the best together, but the track selection and scratching made up for it.

downstairs, was okay. too small / crowded for me.. music was peanut buttery though. Mike Conradi threw down some good breaks tracks / Scartat had some good jungle going.

hung out for a bit and drank / chilled with the usual faces until Mr. Liberator came on. crowd got out of their complacency and started to groove. liberator dropped the usual mixture of old and new. personally, i think he is an amazing producer and 'okay' deejay. seemed like he was playing more of a laid back set. (maybe i'm just used to hearing him spin acid though? :P). Mr. Liberator got into it for sure!

also, that One Night In Hackney Remix finally grew on me. listening to it on a home system versus live.. such a difference.

anyways, all in all a good night out. crowd wasn't sketchy / average age was 25-30.. which (thank god) made the night. nice to meet Jem_Hadar and Cono_sur. Mona, always cool to see jooz out!

PS: the bongs were a giveaway by Chills Dj Hit Squad.

Ummm....as in the game D2???

Been looking forward to this review. I was so disappointed not to have made it out to. Sucked sitting on a Saturday, staring at books, knowing the alternatives. Hope you all had a great time.

Blipvert- looks like you had your camera set to tungsten lighting most of the night, with all that blue cast to it.

i had my arm/shoulder in a sling and couldn't hold 'er steady for long exposures. so bleh.

Kathedral (main floor of The Big Bop)'s lighting is kinda wonky.. so that setting made the place look less dirty/more surreal, plus hides everyone's acne :P

(plus i likez the blue tinge. )

I'm sad I bailed on this event...

It sounded like a wicked night as Jamie and the others have described it to be...

It sucks that sooo many good events happen to fall in one night

eww techno?
why would someone listen to techno?

personally, i love anti-folk-polka-rock.

perfect example of this 'anti-folk-polka-rock' would be Patrick DSP - Live Ballistics @ TechnoPride Studios, Brazil. (live pa). right and save as. dirka dirka.

hard poundin' folk-rawk for all the other non-techno fans

/disclaimer\
everyone loves techno. they just don't know it yet :P

Horrible memories...

There's absolutely dick all to do in the area, except drinking self into stupor and then go pick a fight in downtown Owen Sound

If you ask me, its TOO BRIGHT! I didnt enjoy that... WAY too much light by the DJ area up front! at least dim that that.

The brightness up front (where i wanted to be dancing) was killing and taking away from my vibe! I coudlnt get as lost into the music as I wanted too unfortunately. I hope its darker at the next party I attend there.

It was the only factor of the night I would actually criticize on any level, the amount of light.

It def needed to be much darker (more zone darkness-like! ... though even the Zone has too much light for me these days compared to in teh past)

Heard that remix for the first time a few weeks ago! I enjoy it, esp teh "Well then FAWK OFF" part...

but it will never compare to the original...

most remixes wont... the ONLY exception for me being the Breaks Dub of Breathing.... Rank 1 COMPLETLEY BLEW away the original w/ the new sound of that remix!

Me and Matt and Nathon got an EDM event going ace in Collingwood back up until last June! It was great, whether it was Sunday, then Friday, then at the end, Wednesdays!

There are many more EDM heads in Collingwood than I would have thought (though mostly more jungle and D&B heads, than house or trance heads)
