CASTING CALL

For short film "Heaven Sent"

Synopsis

The film primarily examines the waning stages of the rave sub-culture during the mid-1990s from the perspective of an upwardly-mobile and severely disillusioned twenty-something, Kyle. Like many major youth movements, the white-hot idealism that defined it simply ran its course, leaving a trail of seared nerve-endings and hardened cynics in its wake; and Kyle, likewise, is confronted with the same dilemma – that is, hold on to the fleeting ideals of the movement, or come to reckon with the tragedy it had ultimately become.

Another theme the film will explore is the intersection between the “drug experience” and the “divine experience,” and more specifically, the notion that any mode or method of attaining a state of self-transcendence (by way of drugs or otherwise) is flawed, and at best, a fools errand. The ubiquitous “light at the end of the tunnel,” the holiest of holy grails to both the worshipper and the drug user, is as illusory as the reality both seek to escape from.

We are shooting the first week of February at locations throughout Miami.

Casting will take place at The University of Miami Wolfson Building (School of Communication) at the following times/rooms:

This is a Master of Fine Arts Thesis film. This film is being produced for The University of Miami and is a student film, with a limited budget. A copy of the film will be provided free of charge and meals will be provided on set.

The film is approximately 15 minutes in length, and is scheduled to shoot

February 1-8 at various locations throughout Miami.
