Arrow Ferry Corsten.

imo he is getting better and better. slowly becoming one of my very few fav dj'(s)

your opinion on Ferry?

Posted by SYSTEM-J on Dec-13-2006 00:32:

Don't give a shit about his DJing, and his last album was gash.

Posted by Rinster on Dec-13-2006 00:34:

why you guys always have to be harsh on somebody's opinion, lol

guess we all have different taste then. wich is good!

Posted by MrJiveBoJingles on Dec-13-2006 00:38:

Never seen him DJ, but his productions have some cool sounds going on. He's decent.

I wasn't harsh on anyone's opinion. Except for anyone who holds the opinion "Ferry Corsten should not be criticised", that is.

To be fair though, to call his last album 'gash' is quite harsh...care to explain your reasons behind this?

Posted by ClearWater on Dec-13-2006 00:45:

i like his sound, its different and truly his own.

I've seen Ferry Corsten about 4 times now.....

Technically, he is one of the best djs out there (mixing wise) better then Tiesto & Armin

He is a pioneer and always stays in touch with that the style is in today's world

one, if not, the most unique producers in Trance by a long shot

overall Ferry is one of my fav. djs/producers and its a shame that he always floats around the 5-6-7 spot in the dj mag cause this guy deserves top 3 for sure

trance energy 2000 is where he shines, his production and remix work from 1999-2002 is mint, nowadays hes just meh to me.

idiot.

Downloaded one of his sets the other day, everything was spot on. Love his sound, love his DJing.

He was the man back in the days, but has gone downhill with his new direction. His productions are lacking big time and use the same 'flashover' beat in every track.

I love the old ferry for remixes and productions like these:

-Albion - Air
-System F - Out Of The Blue
-System F - Insolation
-Libra Presents Taylor - Anamoly - Calling Your Name (Ferry Corsten Remix)
-Kosheen - Catch (Ferry Corsten Remix)
-Art of Trance - Madagascar (Ferry Corsten Remix) <---in terms of supersaw type productions this knocks Airwave right out of the water
-Pulp Victim - The World
-Ferry Corsten - It's Time
-some remixes from his Moonman alias
-some productions from his Gouryella alias

edit: new addition

lol i couldnt be bothered coming up with a decent insult just like he didnt come up with a decent way to bag out a legend

Posted by drivingforce on Dec-13-2006 05:41:

its a tough call with ferry, def an awesome dj, and mixing is spot on. His album L.E.F, not really my taste but I have to give him credit that it is differnt than what everyone else who are in the top 10 are doing right now. So I think i respect him alot for the album though its not my taste. Last set I have by him is at club space in 2005, man what a great uplifting trance set. I mean he said (I forget where, wish I could remember) that he doesn't really like where the trance scene is or going and is trying to change it with his productions and sets. Again I def think L.E.F was different from what most were doing in the top 10. Hopefully he starts producing liek he did a few years back, that would be really nice.

Posted by miamitranceman on Dec-13-2006 06:03:

Let's put it this way, L.E.F. was a much better "different sound" than, say, Gabriel & Dresden's artist album having a "different sound".

He's great live too.

I agree with this. Back then he was involved in the production of a lot of the 90s trance classics. Back then, some of the purists didn't like his use of bombastic dance floor techniques, and now people don't like his new style. I guess some of his '99 classics (e.g. Carte Blanche) really stand out, but hey, styles change.

I'm amazed you don't choke on your tongue every time you think too hard about something.

Fucking hell...

Don't rate his recent production work apart from the Galaxia remake.

Don't like the electro-trance stuff he makes.

Don't like the electro-trance stuff he mixes either, but when he mixes uplifting trance, either his own or other people's, I like him

cubikated really needs to be appreciated in a club (or on any huge bassy system); you really don't get the full effect of the lows on the kick otherwise. it sounds anything but watery..

good review though
