agreed, too many people are on different platforms so it's nice to have one central repository. if someone's just looking to talk to randoms then anything will do but if you actually use it for business and other socializing then it's key to be compatible across all platforms.

Only one I use these days is MSN, and thats a rarity in itself.

But if your having problems deciding or don't like being on 5 chat apps at once "poking holez in teh flamewallz" just break out the trillian or gaim.

Adium is one of the most enjoyable apps I use on OS X. It never fails me and is incredibly sexy (the Extras simply own)!

JiveTalk on the BlackBerry is very hot too and works great! It's in beta, but keep an eye on it if you're a BlackBerry user.
