Love your Job or Hate it???
Hey guys,
So we all have day jobs well most of us do anyway.
What do you do? Do you Love your Job or Hate it?
And, are you hiring???
I'll start..
I am an Implementation/Account Manager here in Fremont. I work for a Mobile Resource Management Corporation, called @Road Inc. We make GPS Tracking for Employers to monitor their employees in the field.
Im on the fence with my job, it has its ups and downs..
Im also locally known as Dj Blurr, and spin in the Mainroom @ 1015 Folsom S.F., workin towards my Residency..
Im also lookin for a new job locally here in Norcal, so if you guys are hirin, lemme kno!
I make computers do stuff they were never intended to to, and break them.
Love it.
That depends:

I work for a Mutual Fund Trading Company (Wealth advisement). I draft all documents/agreements for all of our trading/accounts and then some.
I love it except it's an all female staff... issues..drama..emotions..and more issues.. YECK!!!!!
I work on pacemakers.
Most of the time I really like my job, although sometimes it can get a bit tedious. And I hate waking up in the mornings.
But we're always hiring ;p
i work with open source, mostly linux and usually on laptops/workstations but sometimes rack mount servers. this is my first non-contract job and it's not to bad, especially since my pay has increased close to 100% since I started the summer of 2005
i get in between 9-10:30 and can make my own hours most of the time, actually took the day off today to study for a final later today as i couldnt concentrate this past weekend with my fever. although i almost quit this past summer because i wasnt sure if i wanted to continue doing this type of job. in the end i realized i need the income and the employer is not seriously strict and flexible to my needs.
I work at CNET Networks. Our company has been plastered all over the news recently because it's the place where James Kim worked. James Kim, the guy who made the heroic attempt after he and his family got stuck in snow in Oregon for a week and lost his life.
Anyhow, I work in the Entertainment department with my focus mainly on GameSpot.com. Other properties I help out with are tv.com, mp3.com, and the recently launched FilmSpot (currently in Beta).
I am the senior producer of our departments video production team (commonly referred to as GameSpot Live on our website). I am basically responsible for managing our dev projects, big shows, researching technology, equipment, etc.
My office used to be known as "The Oven" because I had so much equipment running in here but most of that has been transitioned to other people so I could work on overlooking things and be focused on that. So now most of my work is done on my handy ole laptop, though I will be receiving a new Hi-Def editing machine in the next week. Or maybe I'll take my old one back because I loved the software I used on that and don't care to use Adobe Premiere Pro 2!
I have been here for almost 7 years. I started here when I was 20 and was the job I landed after I moved to San Francisco from Orlando, Florida. When I started here our department was maybe 20 people between all teams (editorial, production, design, etc) and now we take up a whole floor in our building and run 100-200 people. I've lost count!
It is a very stressful job that demands TOO many hours at some points (although in most cases we can take our work home and continue there, at least). It has allowed me to travel all over the world, although my hate for flying has returnd in the past few years so I've cut back on the traveling quite a bit. But for the most part, the job is a whole lot of fun. We get a lot of freedom when it comes to being creative, working on ideas, etc.
You all know what I do in the nightlife. Although working on that thing we call DJing...or digital DJing when it comes to me (Ableton Live). Still practicing with a mixer (thanks Ish!) these days and it certainly makes working with Ableton a bit different, mainly because of the sensitivity of the faders in certain areas compared to the faders within the Ableton software. I was so used to how it would react that when I started using a mixer with Ableton my transitions would sound wanky with the audio levels, lol. But getting the hang of it.
Dave
commercial real estate was awesome, but i didn't like the specific office that i worked in. i quit this month, ha.
thats a silly question! If I actually liked my job I wouldn't spend every free moment I get on here

Wow thats crazy that you work for the same company that James Kim worked for, I do consider that man a Hero, seeing how he went to go get help for his family and stuff. Dave |

I dabble in ableton and other audio/visual toys at night...
any1 got any job leads in SF? I'm looking to relocate

Territory Manager. I'm in the Wireless/ Mobile phone industry.
I consult retailers /mom and pop business on how to run their cell phone stores sucessfully. I love it. I have the freedom of working on my own time and I have a home office.
One shitty thing about my job is the amount of miles I put on the car.
bleh.. win some, you lose some.
i'm blaaaaa with my job. pay is very good but its not what i want to do.....
i just wanna dance
Day Job
I manage DVD production at Warner Bros during the day...
It's not really glamorous at all. We're management basically... so we don't really get our hands dirty. I pay a third party vendor to do every aspect of the work. authoring, menus, subtitles, dubbing foreign languages, etc... I do like everyone i work with, so thats a huge plus.
I wouldn't say i LOVE it more so than I would say I TOLERATE it.
Instead of working on something i could give two shits about, its kinda fun that I get projects like Superman Returns etc...
Are we hiring? Actually i think so... but you def have to have some DVD experience... (pirating them doesn't count)
http://www.wbjobs.com is the best place to start.
I'm the dealer service rep for a backpack manufacturer in Colorado. I work in the mountains and get to test out packs, etc. when I get the chance. I handle everything East of the Missip, warranties, returns, repairs, trade shows, new dealer applications, etc.
It's a lot of work but I love it - multitasking is the key and I adore being in the middle of everythign at once. And in 2007 I'll get to travel back East for shows as well as a few here in the West. Everybody here is uber friendly and I can bring my dog to work when I want.
After working in Detroit for the past four years, this is quite a change.
Thought I would update my post...
Anyone else in the bay area hirin?
I got a job offer from Google, but derno if I wanna take it.

you cant go wrong with google... fortune's #1 place to work for. insane company perks, like free gourmet lunch/dinner, massage, laundry facilities and more... but yeah they are kinda making you stay there instead of going home. good if you're single.
very impressive that you got a job there... i've applied a few times and got rejected everytime
