It's still a pretty long time until the whole thing starts, but I belive that Liverpoor shouldn't do anything to Barcelona as they're currently very strong, and will get even stronger with Messi and Eto'o when they come back.

Milan once again with the easiest draw and I believe they will go through even though Celtic is very strong at home. If they want to go through, well, then they have to improve their record away against good teams. On the other hand, Milan has to start scoring goals and get their team going after New Year, So it is a pretty even game at this stage.

Porto is facing Chelsea and Mourinho is coming back to Portugal, we'll see how they'll do against Chelsea who seems to be very strong at the moment even though they're not scoring a lot of goals. Porto has to win at home if they want to have a proper chance of going through.

PSV Eindhoven vs. Arsenal is a very interesting game as they're both playing total football. Not an easy test for Arsenal at all I believe as they have to step up now and start scoring goals on their chances. Arsenal are favourites though.

Lille and Manchester United has played each other a couple of times earlier in the Champions League, like last year in the group stage. Manchester United has most likely got the easiest draw of all teams together with AC Milan, but I believe if Lille can play well at home and get a win, then they'll likely have a great chance on Old Trafford.

AS Roma vs. Lyon is another very interesting game, but I believe and hope Lyon will take this home as they're a better team than Roma overall.

Barcelona will need to win at home with a couple of goals, and I believe Liverpool won't go through as they're weaker than Barcelona this time. Barcelona big favourites in my eyes anyways, but we've seen Liverpool do well against bigger teams earlier.

Real Madrid vs. Bayern Mnich is perhaps the best game and I definetly hope Bayern can get through. But Real is good at home and this is a tough test for them. Last time they met, Real got through, back in 2004 I believe.

Inter will play Valencia at San Siro while the second leg takes place on Mestalla. Inter favourites, but Valencia with a fitter team could do very well and has nice offensive players to shake this Inter-team. Though, I really want Inter to go through.

I couldn't be happier, just booked my time off work and i'm looking for cheap flights to milan.

Bring it on I say, this by far the most favourable draw for celtic as milan are the weakest of the second round teams that we could hope to have faced.

It will be hard but we've got a chance

im not sure could milan have cafu and serginho back by then? add to that possible extra players in january, and it isnt looking as easy for celtic. an on form kaka could destroy them.. at the moment celtic do have a good chance, and i hope they do it..but do i think milan will come good and go through.

barca-l'pool, and roma-lyon will be cracking games for sure.

Re: 1/8 Champions League Live Draw

FC Porto - Chelsea FC (25% - 75%)
I'm disappointed that either us or Mourinho's squad will be knocked out this early. Chelsea are obviously favourites but at our current run of form I actually think we could have a good chance, Quaresma is unstoppable. However, by February, Chelsea could be back at their best and we could've slipped a bit. The 2nd leg being played in London is also an advantage for them.

Celtic - Ac Milan (20% - 80%)
I don't believe Milan will still be performing this badly by February - and with the Serie A already lost, they can fully concentrate on the Champions League and win it Liverpool style. Celtic ocasionally show strength, but losing 3-0 at Benfica indicates to me they can also be very poor. Milan to go through.

PSV - Arsenal (40% - 60%)
PSV are dominating their league yet again, Arsenal are having a nightmare season in the Premiership and didn't look too convincing in the group stage (except for their home game with Porto!). However, the english(?) have lots of quality. Slight favourites I'd say.

Lille - Manchester United (20% - 80%)
Lille have the outsider factor, against a team who seems finally set for glory again this season. It has to be said Lille, despite having no real european experience, have several fairly underrated players and Man Utd could drop their form. But I don't think they will.

AS Roma - Lyon (35% - 65%)
A bit unfortunate that Roma, who have looked at times very strong this season, have to face one of the most powerful teams in Europe right now. This is the game I'm most looking forward to, apart from Porto of course.

FC Barcelona - Liverpool (70% - 30%)
Not the most comfortable opponent for Bara, Liverpool have loads of spirit - but have looked awful this season in the Premiership. Bara in normal circumstances should go through.

Real Madrid - Bayern Munich (65% - 35%)
Bayern haven't been convincing at all since Ballack left the club - they're struggling in the Bundesliga! Real have the Capello factor, I believe he really is one of the best managers in the world and seems to be managing the team very well. It's a risk, but I'd bet on Real.

Inter Milan - Valencia (65% - 35%)
As much as I like Valencia, and believe they can be brilliant at times, Inter seem very, very strong this season. I give the favouritism to the italians (argentinians?).

they won the cup the other year i bet laughed at that before they did it aswell.

Not to dissapoint with th draw. Barca havent been great this year. Last playing a team who we were expected to beat fuck'd us up. We were too cocky and paid for it.

This will be like the time we won it 2 years ago. Playing teams who we are massive underdogs against and expected to lose. I'd just be happy with an away goal, then take them to anfield and stuff them.

Posted by Yohan on Dec-17-2006 05:23:

I'm going to wait until after jan transfer window to see how teams improve their team.

It's still very far away.

Though there are a lot of good draws.

Posted by zarathustra on Dec-17-2006 05:29:

Damn, Arsenal and PSV are my two favourite teams. Ah well, at least I'll be guarenteed to be cheering one of them on in the next round.

Posted by fcuk on Dec-17-2006 15:17:

Milan better improve over the new year if they want to beat Celtic. From what i saw Celtic were strong in group stage also beating Man U, it would be very difficult if Milan can't improve their form. Otherwise all the other games look like corkers except for Lille-Man U and Porto-Chelsea.

Posted by Yohan on Dec-17-2006 22:47:

Celtic don't perform away from home though. Defence is very leaky and I think Giladino can exploit that with Kaka with through balls.

2nd round of the greatest sports competition on earth starts tomorrow.

Got my ticket for the Celtic-milan game, glad the time has finally arrived.

FC Porto - Chelsea FC (30-70)
Nothing else to say about it.

Celtic - AC Milan (40-60)
Even though Milan is the favorite, if Celtic can manage not to receive any goals at home they might have the edge. I still think Milan will go through.

PSV - Arsenal (45-55)
One of the closest match ups in this round, I like PSV's team as they're very solid. Arsenal however seems to have surpassed their choking days in the CL, don't be too surprised if PSV pulls the upet.

Lille - Manchester United (20-80)
Man Utd to go through easily in my opinion.

AS Roma - Lyon (50-50)
One of those coin toss matches, Roma can get hot and finish things off in Italy and so can Lyon... I expect this one to be decided possibly on penalties.

FC Barcelona - Liverpool (45-55)
Even though Barcelona is still one of the biggest favorites this year, I think Liverpool will pull the upset and advance. As of right now, Barcelona is simply falling apart and not even Ronaldive will save them this time.

Real Madrid - Bayern Munich (50-50)
The most exciting match up in this round and by far the closest too... not because either team is doing good, but because they suck so much right now you just don't know what to expect. I can't go against my heart, so I'll say Madrid... God wish us luck.

Inter Milan - Valencia (40-60)
Inter might be the favorites, but Valencia will go through, after watching them on sunday I'm pretty certain of it... besides I don't like Inter lolz

Real Madrid - Bayern Mnchen: a true euro classic.

8 meetings before on the top european competition, with great goals, comebacks, trash-talk, smashmouth games, rage, blood... all the ingredients. Can't wait. Juanito spirit!
