Miikka Leiononen - Sailing South

I know this is a pretty bold statement to make - but I would have to say, this is the best trance tune I have EVER heard.

It's just amazing in all the ways brilliant, melodic, uplifting trance used to be. But with a gorgeous modern bassline and percussion.

Every time I hear it, I just think - holy shit.

This guy deserves some sort of medal for this tune.

And before anyone out there starts with "its shit, not that great" I may aswell say it now - I couldnt give a monkeys! To me, it's one of, if not THE best trance tune I have ever heard.

Craziness (imo) to not release such a masterpiece under your own name!!!

Either way, I cannot wait to buy it.

"Calm Waters" is such, SUCH a good track.

"Sailing South" had a really cool build-up. The melody is okay, nothing else. Calm Waters is so much better when it comes to the melody.

this one is now coming out under Miika's name, it's entitled; Miikka Leinonen - (The Camp Nova E.P.) Star Pendant / Constealltion, plus remixes coming from Evasive, Terrafusion, (+more TBC)

Camp Nova was possibly the worst artist name Id ever heard, and Miika should be getting the recognition for the absolutely best trance tune I have ever heard.

Just magical. Sailing South was still a far better name though, imo.

So - WHEN do we get our hands on it ?

a name means less than the track though, so it really doesn't matter, it's still awesome! Well this one is currently doing the rounds with the dj folk and i'm still waiting on the finished remixes, so depending on a few things i.e. whether i decide to release the original mixes first then the remixes a bit later on, or release them all together. I'm looking at the beginning of April though all being well.

ahh, thats fantastic to hear its not so far away now.

Remixes to look forward to aswell. Obviously cant improve on the original, but will be SO good to hear a new take on it.

Any clues as to who is on remix duty ??

and then I'm gonna try and get one more but keeping that hush hush. as you say, hard to improve on the original but they are both really nice, and add another dimension to the package.

Camp Nova? What sort of an artist / E.P name is that? You realise that it translates as 'Gay Car' ?

lol it has more space travel connotations, that is the idea, hence the two tracks being called constellation (i.e. the stars) and star pendant (speaks for itself), and Miikka's is finnish so his grasp of dodgy english translations like camp meaning gay is probably not in his vocab!

all in all..who cares about the track names, it's what they sound like that counts!

Yeah but you're English, you think you would have let the poor lad know the connotations of his alias

hehe it's very rare i would question an artist's choice in track title. i don't think it will have an adverse affects on sales or airplay..but we'll see eh!

I played this track out in an earlier TTT set, quite nice but I have to agree, the new artist name/track title are simply horrible! I've often found, that more often than not, you can tell a good track simply from the artist's name and track title (when reviewing demo submissions)... it's funny how often it turns out to be true!

aside from the naming of the e.p. playing an individual track will only look;

Miikka Leinonen - Constellation or Miikka Leinonen - Star Pendant, which hardly looks so bad to me.

and yes you're right, some demos with crap names tend to be crap tunes, but you should never judge a book by it's cover and all that.

haha! dj something and totally overused track titles like sunrise/set something best is when the artist name needs to be written in a h4xx0r way, like the artist assumes the label will really keep the name..
