Why Doesn't Anyone Promote EDM to The Latino Crowd?

I know that supposobly EDM has no color lines, but why doesn't anyone promote EDM to the latino scene? The chicks are Hot!!! But not only that, but last night at the Queen Mary (99% Latinos) people kept asking me for Trance. The good trance!!! Than, I found out that Tiesto used the DVJ's from the other mexican DJ that played with me last night. How I know it's true? He showed me his ALL ACCESS Pass to the show, and he showed me THE VIDEO HE SHOT!!! This guy recorded most of TIESTO's SET!!!! I know, I heard it and saw the video last night. We used it as freakin VISUALS. When Tiesto came on the big screens, all I heard was OH SHIT, TIESTO! hahaha

But unlike the regular EDM crowd, most of these people don't post on message boards. They lurk! I know, I ran into a few people that have hit me up and told me that they only lurk.

Than I found out that the guy doing visuals last night does visuals at Avalon too!!! He's another Mexican guy.

Than, some girls came up to me last night and said "HEY, I SAW YOU AT TIESTO ON THURSDAY!"

WTF? Why is this whole LA EDM scene missing out on the hot latin women? Hmmm

Than, Super Estrella 107.1 plays some EDM in rotation! Shit, I heard Binary Finary and Deep Dish there before. So what's missing here? And no, not all latinos are cholos! haha

Well you have Curly, Chavez, Lomeli, Xtrackto and I. We aren't enough?

Posted by jcluvsu on Dec-17-2006 20:59:

Why? They are all about that Salsa and hip hop gangsta shit. Hence the reason why I don't have any latin friends. We promote to everybody and the response from the latoso community is "I don't go to Raves!"

I dunno asians seem all up into EDM/Trance. But I really dont' see any people promoting it to them.

I'm always shocked to see old asian people at like avalon talking on their cellies about AVB's next show or Ferry corsten........ Is there a secret washing machines promo hotline?

See, that's not always true. I play a lot in the latin scene. If you promote to the SUPER ESTRELLA Crowd, you'll find out they also listen to EDM. If you promote to the Power 106 or Latino 96.3 crowd, than you get the crowd you are talking about. But, honestly, I've been playing out a lot in the Super Estrella scene and most of the time I do a trance set with no problems! The crowd likes it. And yes, sometimes I have to throw in some cheese there but that's cuz they like those songs too.

Here's some of the songs that we played last night and the crowd went nuts.

Eric Prydz Vs Innercity - Good Life (Summer Edit 2006)
Eric Prydz - Voices
Supermode - Tell Me Why
Message In a Bottle
Tiesto - Traffic
Tiesto - Love Comes Again
Sergio Medez - Magalenha
The Killers - Mr Brightside (thin White duke Remix)

and off course, some spanish rock dance remixes like Soda Estero.

Psy always brings out a nice mix. I met many peeps from Guadalajara and Mexico City at the last Infected Mushroom show not to mention about a thousand Israelies. I'm sure Astral Projection will bring out plenty of paisas Lomeli, you better be down her for Astral

I hear you! Psy is HUGE in Mexico!!! Look at all these big shows that are happening just an hour down south in TJ. And these events pull MASSES!!! Tiesto on thursday had at least 15,000 people... AT LEAST! My friend waited two hours to get in WITH A PRESALE Ticket! Yeap!

The EDM Scene in Baja is getting big, and a lot of these people have passports, which means they can come to the shows here and they often do. I have friends from TJ that went to see Max Graham last night. And I also have friends from TJ and Mexicali coming to Giant Maximus on NYE. I also have friends that go to Giant in San Diego all the time, but they live in Tijuana.

I dunno, but we're missing out on something.

I'm going to SolarFest in April down in Mexico, although this isn't exactly a 3 hour drive....more like a 5 hour flight and a 4 hour drive into the jungle.

I don't think there's any way to NOT promote to the Latino crowd. I mean most promotions happen outside of clubs...so why don't people just promote outside of Latin clubs

Isn't that your job Woody

Posted by Xtracktor on Dec-18-2006 00:19:

I don't know where you find them woody, but seriously I have given up, especially in Glendale...EDM is the last thing on most people's minds (including Hispanic people)

Don't even get me started with csulb

Bring me your women!!!

Posted by R!CH on Dec-18-2006 07:19:

since when is edm even promoted by ethnicity to begin with?

Posted by Miss Julia on Dec-18-2006 16:35:

What do you mean no one propmotes EDM to the Latino scene? Where or how else are they supposed to promote it more to them?

EDM is not promoted to any specific scene, imo. Whoever likes it, is more than welcome to go party to it.

Posted by DjWoody on Dec-18-2006 17:24:

EDM is mostly promoted at EDM Events & EDM Clubs. What I ment was, why doesn't anyone go beyond the usual spots and promotes it at Latin Clubs.... NOT HIP HOP CLUBS, but LATIN CLUBS (Super Estrella type).

And EDM is very specific. Besides being promoted at the usual EDM Clubs, it mostly gets promoted in Hollywood, Santa Monica, Newport, Huntington, and more upscale places.

Posted by Clovis on Dec-18-2006 17:33:

Why dont we promote EDM at death metal nights? Ruben???

Posted by bobba lou on Dec-18-2006 18:13:

so when woody is at teh club loads of hot whores instantly recognize him??

Posted by xenpro on Dec-18-2006 19:09:

If any of these people you talk about need to be reminded (promoted to)that there are EDM clubs which attract worlds top DJs, than I guess there is not much you can do.

The Super Estrella type listens to "MANA" and knows the concert dates, the names hell even the underwear color of the guys.

If the same fan was into EDM they can take the initiative and find an EDM club for one weekend and see how they like it.

EDM is not soo underground anymore
